What is with this weather?
It’s October 16th and I’m walking outdoors sweating, I take off my light jacket, just a t-shirt on, and I’m still sweating! I’m not claiming it’s as hot as the 4th of July, but clearly this is not what the middle of October is supposed to be.
Does anyone else have serious concerns about what this weather means in terms of global warming?

So, you'd rather have the six inches of snow we had last year in October. It's fall, it's not quite 70 degrees out. That's what autumn weather is supposed to be.

Eh, the water will come up cool us down then drown us soon enough until then I'm enjoying the warm but cool weather.

That's what autumn weather is supposed to be.The fact that I don’t want it to be 70 degrees now, does not mean I want it under 32 (the temperature required for snow). I’d like it to be around the mid 50s, as Autumn is supposed to be.
And it was not last year, but two years ago, when we had snow in October. But that one day was very untypical of the rest of that month.

As my old friend used to say. Thats what autumn is. hot, cold, hot, cold. Put on Sweater, take it off. . Ditto for Spring.

It may not be PC but we just used to call it Indian Summer, one last final blast of good weather before you freeze.

Garth, I agree you with that the weather is becoming increasingly and concerningly atypical, while acknowledging that sometimes we will see unseasonably warm, Indian summer type weather here. Nonetheless, when I moved to NY 18 years ago, one could generally characterize what the weather was like in each season. Not so anymore. Back then by this time of October, it would be crisp (upper 40s-50s in the day), as I recall.
Generally speaking, I find that people under 40 don't have a strong sense of the dramatic change in weather patterns that has taken place since the 70s. To be fair, how could they, not having experienced what it was like before?
For those of us who remember what fall, winter, spring and summer used to be like (wherever we've lived), it's deeply disconcerting. In addition to the physical changes such as higher water levels, more violent and frequent storms, etc., it is my view that climate change is going to have a negative, destabilizing impact on some people, and thus society.

It’s October 23rd, and for what it’s worth, today is the first day this year that the weather feels like Autumn is supposed to, to me.
And to PragmaticGuy, that doesn’t mean it’s below 32 degrees with six inches of snow on the ground. It just means that it’s about 50 degrees outside - not 75.

And I for one was completely overjoyed riding home this evening in the cold rain. Fall is here yay....
-
Well, the calendar has now reached November, and it’s 70 degrees outside… Yes, we had a few days in late October when it cooled down a bit. But very few.
I’m not questioning whether or not this is comfortable for us as human beings - I’m just questioning what kind of sign this is for our planet... I find it very disturbing when people use their fondness of warm weather as an excuse to ignore clear signs of global warming problems.

While I conserve the environment, I tend to not fret about global warming because I do not think I will get the cooperation of the other 8 billion people on the planet.
I see no reason why I should not enjoy the weather.
It is weird to have the leaves peak after Halloween. The probably won't happen every year.

It's December 23rd, and 70 degrees. How many people here think this is normal?
