Barf! Who came up w/the nickname ProHo?

I came up with it! Glad you like it.
-
yuck
-
I like it because it's sort of a descriptive joke. Not worth getting your panties in a twist over. It probably won't end up on any maps or documents, like Soho. But it can end up on your chest, if you attend the Happy Hour!
-
I thought ProHos charged about $300 - $500 an hour (more if you like it rough). Shouldn't it be ProHi?
-
It is a good name because it's stupid. It's intended as a mockery of all that is wrong with Brooklyn today. Also, it's only used on this site, . If you don't like it then I don't see how you will participate in the after hours parties at Home Heating Oil.

Subject: More useless neighborhood names
Along the same lines, I've been thinking of calling the area where Clinton Hill, Bed-Stuy and Prospect Heights meets (like centered around Classon Ave) "Clinton's Bed". It works on so many levels and is so inherently dumb that I love it "I live in Clinton's Bed"-"whose bed?"-. Think of it as real estate satire. -
>only used on this site
As a social experiment, everyone should start using "ProHo" in front of people who aren't familiar with this site, just to see how far the usage gets. When people question you about what it means, just shrug and say "Prospect Heights, duh," as if it's the most normal thing in the world to say and why would you even be asking such a question.
Also, as you insiders know, "ProHo.org" is the secret name of Daily Heights. -
When I say it to people they usually laugh. Anyway, I was thinking of calling it Prizzy Hizzo from now on.

the fact that it needs to be justified makes it reasonable enough to be credible.
long live ProHo!! -
Subject: Fog Chill
ProHo is almost as hip as FogChill (Fort Greene/Clinton Hill) ! -
yea, ProHo is bad nickname. it's as bad as "Brumbo" (real estate folks are dubbing Mott Haven section of the Bronx)

I prefer TriFlantic -
Subject: stupid name
Been living in Prospect Heights for 10 years now, before the Manhattanites came to Brooklyn, trying to "save it". Naming its ProHo devalues the community aspect of Brooklyn and all the other Boroughs, that aren’t Manhattan. We aren’t Manhattan, never will, so don’t try to be cute and give us a stupid name. If you don’t like the name Prospect Heights, just move out. -
It amazes me how many people truly DO NOT GET that the term "ProHo" is a joke. Nothing more. Are we too subtle?
-
I can't believe that I am a native Brooklynite and yet can't get with the community aspect of Brooklyn. Good bye Brooklyn, thank you for giving birth to me and my parents and even my grandparents! I am so sorry that after 3 generations I still don't get it.
But seriously, I don't think it's too subtle, i just think that people hear it and think "Real Estate" and make assumptions. Having no sense of humor and not reading the threads might aid in the assumptions as well.
VIVA LA PROHO! -
Well, it's not a funny joke. Prospect Heights. let's keep it PH balanced and call it a day. yawn.
