Franklin Park Reading Series
I've just launched a reading series at Franklin Park (618 St. John's Place, between Franklin and Classon), featuring established and up-and-coming novelists, memoirists, storytellers and comedians. Events are held on the first Thursday of the month (except in the summer, when we'll have to adjust the schedule a bit).
Our next event is set for Thursday, May 7 at 8PM. It's FREE, and we'll have DRINK SPECIALS.
This month's theme is "Lost and Found" -- novelists Jami Attenberg (The Kept Man) and Diana Spechler (Who by Fire), along with memoirist Suzanne Guillette (Much to Your Chagrin) and actress/comedian Ann Carr (Comedy Central, Upright Citizens Brigade) will share stories about loss, recovery and epiphany (everything from identity crises to kidnapped relatives).
You can check our website, franklinparkbrooklyn.com, for further information, or go to our facebook events page:

Thanks so much! Hope to see you all there!

I bump this thread mostly for fun....
In the post above, Penina talks about having "just launched a reading series", and has since regularly promoted the series on Brooklynian and elsewhere.
In fact, she started the series a two years before the above post, but it was really taking off in 2009.
Fast forward to 2013: She recently received some press in light of the event's SIX year anniversay.
Congrats Penina!
