You were a tireless ally, and a fixture in the Crown Heights political scene. You will be missed.

I valued our time together.

If you object to suicide as a form of death, but didn't know Alfred, please refrain from commenting here.

    Thanks.

  • How do you know it's a suicide? He lived with a cat. Those things are both crafty and malicious.

  • My condolences to all who knew him and especially to his family and friends.

  • So Sad. I saw him at many meetings. We have lost a caring person working for the public good.

  • This is very sad news. Alfred was a great guy. I first met him five years ago when I was working for NYRR Youth and Schools when we organized a big youth-focused cheer zone at BAM. Alfred didn't just help get the word out and make sure the Councilwoman came by (she did, and really got the crowd revved up), but he hung out all day, even after Tish left, cheering on runners and helping hand out bells, hats, and glasses to the kids. He will be missed.

I didn't know him personally but I did recognize him once I saw the photo. He came to represent Leticia James at an event at my apartment complex. He had stayed at this event for a little while (as opposed to just dropping in and leaving.) The news of his death made me really sad.

  • RIP Alfred, you helped us with plenty of issues and was always available if we needed you more. So long old friend.
