backyard parties in south slope
anyone else living down here on 15th or 16th, right near PPW, hear the parties going on in one of the backyards? it's like a bunch of 20-something and they have a deck and beer and it's a little insane.
i have heard neighbors yelling at them, but i don't know that it does much. calling 311 is pointless, at least for me, because i have no idea what building the little pissants live in.
anyone else around here? anyone else hearing the keg parties?

It's a Saturday night. Let them have their fun during this holiday weekend, and be happy they don't do this on nights before work-days?
Ps- Isn't it raining outside? These people are partying in the rain?
Edit - I just realized you posted this afternoon. Even better no? Daytime party should be less annoying. -

never said they were partying in the rain, never even said they were partying tonight. simply said they party a lot, week nights and weekends, into the wee hours of the morning, and that a lot of neighbors yell at them but i can't figure out which building it comes from. ergo, why we can't tell the police where it is when it happens because we can't figure out the building (and i'm too far from it to even see it without getting on my fire-escape.

oh. just go over there with a six pack and introduce yourself -
Either join them and party, ask them to keep the volume down, or call the cops and make a noise complaint.
-
But you can't go over and introduce yourself if you can't tell where the party IS, which BrooklynPotter explained is the case.

thanks for attempting to clarify this. (i mean, i think you clarified it, but it seems hard for others to grasp)
regardless, i think i've long since outgrown my keg party days. i'm more the drink too much wine with friends, wear a lampshade on my head kind of girl. -
Oddly, parties with lots of wine and lamps are my preference too.

Wine is great, but I prefer florescent lighting.

Hmmm. I always go for the cake-tin-on-the-head. But only while dancing. -

i have a lot of hair, don't know that a cake tin would give me the right look. besides, if i wore aluminum on my head wouldn't i start picking up messages from outer space?
i'll take my white wine and my lampshade, please. -

If this is the case, I think I would much rather hang out with you. -

We had a problem over here with a bunch of teens partying every night--starting at 11:30. I couldn't figure out what house it was but finally it was really starting to piss me off by the second week. So instead of 311, I called my precinct directly and told them there was underage drinking and that I didn't know the address but could give them a rough guess and if they listened they would figure out which yard. The cops came and closed down the party and it has been blissfully quiet since.

One of the bad aspects of living in the city. Since air conditioner time is winding down my husband and I bought a sound machine over the weekend. We fell asleep last night listening to the sounds of the ocean, with a bird sound thrown in once in awhile. Maybe it worked or maybe there weren't any annoying people loudly playing their music or singing and no car service people honking their horn at all hours. My husband has gone out and tapped on their window to tell them not to honk so late. I want one of those 300.00 fines for honking signs on my block.
We have had some luck calling 311 in the past. The beginning of summer a bunch of kids were playing softball at 3 in the morning outside our window. My husband called the police and said they were drinking and he was afraid someone would get hit by a car. They came pretty fast and broke it up. -

I would have done the same thing. -

A ball game outside your window at 3 AM? Good god I would have ran outside swinging my own bat.
