Hack Saw for a reed? Barter?
I have a smallish, stainless steel weaving loom part that I need to cut a quarter inch off. Other weavers tell me a hack saw will do the trick but I don't have one. I would rather not buy one for this one purpose and I suspect I would also need a vise to hold it in place. Would a hardware store such as Pintchiks offer this? They seem pretty stingy with help but maybe I'm wrong? Does anyone non-shady have the use of one that I could barter for the service? I don't have much in my woven, completed projects stash because it's after the holidays but I have some handwoven then felted trivets you could choose from. Or I could possibly barter a basic sewing repair?

I have a hacksaw that'll cut metal, and I think a vise could be rigged up. What kind of loom? I gave up on weaving after my first lesson, but I wouldn't mind picking it back up from someone who knows what they're doing.Assuming whynot hasn't already solved your problem, obv.

mg, whynot came through, or will quite soon.
I have a no-name, x-frame, 4 shaft, 30" wide floor loom, a 15.75" Dorothy Leclerc 4 shaft table loom, a 32" Kromski rigid heddle loom, a 12" Ashford Knitter's rigid heddle loom, some cards for card weaving and a couple 4" pin looms. What kind of lesson did you have? What kind of loom? Do you do other fiber arts? Do you have a loom yourself? I've been meaning to list my table loom for sale actually. My thought was to offer it for sale for $280, and for $325 I would through in a 45 minute lesson, for $365 I would include 2 lessons and the accessories needed to start including reed hook, shuttles, pattern book etc. If the person hated it at the end I would "buy back" the table loom and equipment for $250 and then the person would only have paid for two lessons and a small equipment rental fee. I would also be willing to do this with my small rigid heddle except that I don't want to sell it, so it would be a deposit that would be paid that equals the cost of a new one in case it was never returned to me. I have been teaching beginning weaving for years now and am more than qualified.
