Venue Needed for Milestone Birthday Party — Brooklynian

Venue Needed for Milestone Birthday Party

Hey allI am planning a birthday party and the venue we had reserved we cant use anymore because of damage from the last snowstorm.I am looking for a nice venue for a birthday party in Brooklyn or Queens preferably. It should be large enough for 60 to 70 people. We are open to venues that have food and drink included. But we are actually looking for a space where we can bring our own catered food and drink. It would be an extra plus if the venue already had chairs and tables included (though its not absolutely necessary). We just need a nice space ASAP because the party is in February.Any and all suggestions are welcome.THANKS!!!

  • Trumystic, look at the following1) Restoration Plaza: They have a couple of diffent sized rooms they rent out for parties, including the Skylight Gallery. Reasonably priced and can hold that number of people easily. They will definitely let you bring in outside caterers.2) Botanic Garden: They have a new space that just opened which is perfect for that size group. I think they require you to use their caterer, but the food is excellent, so its definitely worth it. This is a more expensive option3)Center for Ethical Culture: Nice space for small to medium sized groups. Not sure about the pricing. 4) S Simmons Gallery, 127 6th Ave, 718-783-3288 - I used this space for a party years ago. I don't know if they are still making the gallery available for private events, but it was a great brownstone that the architect owner turned into live/work space 30 years ago. The first two floors were an art gallery that contained a private collection. It was reasonably priced back then, but that had to be 10+ years ago, so not sure what the situation is now.
  • Something that may be a little less expensive would be any church, synagogue in your area. They usually have rooms for rent. I know mine loves to rent our social hall out but we're on the island.
  • I might suggest Franklin Park in Crown Heights (http://franklinparkbrooklyn.com/). They have two separate bars, one large and one fairly intimate, and a big outdoor space with a ton of seating (though since it's in Feb I'm sure it will be too cold, but at least the smokers at the party can go out and bring their drinks with them). I know for sure that you're allowed to bring outside food, and they are attached to a burger place that you can also order from. I see people have food delivered from elsewhere regularly there. I don't know if they do the whole "rent out" thing, so if you consider it an option I'll definitely call and ask.
  • Knights of Columbus on 86th and 12th Ave can cater or you can bring your own. I recently went to a party at El Viejo Yayo. Their party room downstairs was very nice and the food was fantastic. I think they have to cater it though. St. Joseph on Pacific Street rents out the downstairs of the church.
  • Thanks for all the responses. Homeowner, I checked out your suggestions. Restoration doesnt rent anymore and I cant find info for the others but will persist. Pragmatic Guy, I have thought of the church hall route but havent been able to find any that are nice. Most seem to be in basements or rec rooms. So if anyone knows of some nicer church halls etc I would love to know about them.Stacey I will check out the Knights of Columbus and El Viejo. Thanks again
