Subject: Outpost cafe is proximate to Crown Heights
I live in Crown Heights, and the best cafe I've found is Outpost, on Fulton between Classon and Grand.
Free wireless, great design, and friendly staff.
I'm hopeful about Cafe Boulevard on Empire and Brooklyn, but the hours are Hassidic-friendly (read: closed Saturdays). -
I usually head into PH for coffee shops. I'm personally a big fan of Heights Coffee on Flatbush and Park (although the music can sometimes be a little loud--seems to be better of late, though)
-
In other words, you have to go to PH or Clinton Hill for a nice coffee shop.

There is a lovely resturant at Bedford @ St Marks. -

Gen for sushi at the corner of Washington and St marks is FANTAsTIC. art on the walls, mixed crowd of black, white, asian and really beautiful inventive food. -
Subject: Two more cafe ideas, one actually in Crown Heights
Cafe Regular is my favorite, but it's in Park Slope--5th Av and 11th St.
I finally made it to Cafe Boulevard is on Empire Blvd and Brooklyn. Tasty food dishes, pretty good coffee. -
Try Bagels and High Tea on Nostrand near Union (South of E.Pkwy). It's relatively new, has a spartan but warm ambience, and they bake everything right there. Plenty of tables.
There's a nice restaurant directly opposite owned by the same guy. They have a jazz band on weekends. -

Bagels and High Tea has really great baked goods, the coffee is a little weak for my taste, but I try to go there often I really want them to do well. I haven't eaten across the street at Tavern on Nostrand (I think thats the name) but I've heard that its good with great prices. I noticed something around the corner from there on Union Street anybody know what that is, or is going to be?

There are 3 stores around the corner on union st:
A food place, like boston market but not a chain.
A spa, with a massage parlor in the back.
A clothing store (I think).
All owned by the same guy as Tavern and the bagel store. He is trying to buy more property on the block to open up more shops I think. -
I noticed a dumpster in front of the Golden Choice restaurant on Nostrand near St. Johns Place (I think). I've heard rumors that the owner of The Tavern on Nostrand is looking to fix that building up as well. As TON is a great place, I hope we can expect the same at this place. It's been vacant for months and months.
Separately, two guys have been working like dogs on an old suprette on Nostrand between Park and Prospect. I saw the interior last summer and it was awesome: central air, wood burning fireplace, large backyard patio, all in a very deep building. Last week, one of them told me he had just passed his plumbing inspection, so this could be getting close. No word on what type of food theyr'e planning to offer, but one of them mentioned having two chefs, of which one would be asian. -
a coffee shop just opened up on nostrand between bergen & st. marks..
-
Well, what about it?

-
I don't know of any coffee shops on Nostrand. Bagels and High Tea is gone. It's now Asian Jazz (which is excellent but not a wifi cafe.)
Howdy, Stranger!
