Night of Car Vandalism in PS

As I was moving my car for street cleaning on Friday, I saw that the car in front of mine (President btw 7th/8th) had its rear window broken out. The owner was trying to figure out what had happened and discovered that the thief had cut out a part from her engine! Neither one of us knew a thing about cars, so we were at a loss as to which part was stolen. Her car was a 2000 Toyota something or other... Camry maybe... nothing special. Perhaps parts are hard to come by?

I live on President and saw the car with the back window knocked out as well... I was wondering what happened there.

We just got a brand new car (our first ever) and made the financially painful decision to garage it for a few months, just so we can enjoy it dent-free for a little while. Our old cars parked in the Slope had numerous mirrors get broken completely off, and many, many scratches, dings and dents (the worst being a door that was crunched in by another car; of course the driver didn't leave a note). The most outrageous was a woman who hit our parked car with her moving van, and then hit another parked car (with the driver inside!) and drove off. The driver chased her down and not only berated her for driving away, but got her number, came back to our car, and left a note for us describing what happened. Now that's what I call a good neighbor!

oh, yes, how vicious. Keying your Subarau Outback. Heinous crime. Vicious people out there with their keys, damaging cars. Abhorrent.

i have heard that the toyota camry(sp?) has this one part that often gets stolen b/c it's specific to that car and thus $$$. i don't know much more than that, but maybe it's true!
