I agree! on BOTH counts.
Gauchos, on the other hand, should be outlawed FOREVER.

Hahahahahaha....
Ive also noticed a rising trend in the diliberate sporting of high water pants (like 4 inches above the ankle) when showing off mutli-colored striped socks.
Side note: was anyone at Freddys last night? Man, some people take diarahma building so seriously! -
Question for the ladies... does this thong make my butt look big?
-

Yeah, I just noticed those at Urban Outfitters a couple days ago. In the men's section. I'm so tired of horizontal stripes.

No sweetie but those low risers that your thong is hanging out of does make it look big

Somehow my eyes have so far been spared this look. It sounds a bit "available for children's parties" to me... -

I need some black stovepipe pants but haven't been able to find any.
never. ever -
a friend of mine has a rant from last summer re: gaucho/coulotte pants. it's hilarious.
There's this disturbing article of clothing that seems to be gaining momentum, and I plan to do everything I can to put a stop to the evil. I don't even know what these things are called. They're like pants, but they're shorts, but they're all tight where they shouldn't be, and loose where they shouldnt be. It's like what the Hulks pants would look like after he turned back to Bruce Banner. They're worse than skorts. Really. That bad. They remind me of what would happen if your mom drank a whole fifth of homemade vodka, passed out while watching I dream of Jeannie, and then woke up and tried to make you some MC Hammer pants. For real, if you don't have a boyfriend, you will never get one wearing these pants, and if you do have one, chances are he will soon leave you for someone who isn't dressed like "downtrodden villager #4" from Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom. C'mon ladies, why do this to yourself? The UGG boots and hippie/aging midwife skirts were bad enough. We get it, you don't want people to look at you like a sex object. Or you don't want anybody to ever think about sex again. That's why god invented the Muu-muu.No need to reinvent the wheel.

very good ...
I really don't understand why gauchos keep coming back. If I were a guy, I would regard them as evidence of the completely inexplicable nature of women. And when girls wear them with high-heeled strippy-strappy sandals .... GAWD. -
Being clueless, I just google-imaged 'gaucho pants'... yeah, I've seen 'em, and no matter what your body type, they're not flattering... quite the opposite.
-
So did I, WhyFi, didn't know what they were either. Found some especially grim spandex gauchos. Isn't fair that I had to see those - aren't the non-stretch variety bad enough? Also stumbled upon this quiz, which I found amuzing:
Are you a fashion disaster?

I did pretty well! 8) I slipped up a bit here though:

I have to comment on this. I think gauchos in general are ridiculous and unflattering. I also think the pants under the skirt thing is not so kosher either. The only women who can get away with wearing gauchos are pregnant women. Oh, and by the way, after spending a couple of hours in the park yesterday doing careful and productive people watching, it looks like every other woman in Brooklyn is preggers. Anyone else notice that? -

That would certainly explain why every other new store is baby/toddler related... They have zero income, yet they have more shopping options than I do... spoiled kids these days, I tell ya...
But back to the subject - should I have written her a ticket? Verbal warning? Citizen's arrest?! I think she got off lightly, even if she did notice me rolling my eyes... -

Yes, citizen's arrest would have been the right move, but eye rolling is a good first step in the war against gauchos. -

I'll go with this one. That's hilarious. Especially if it's hot and it looks like some perspiration's been thrown into the mix, or some irresponsible bench sitting has taken place. "Look! There goes Smudgy the Whale!"
