Uh, so today I saw a woman wearing what looked to be gauchos under a skirt... is that allowed?!
I have to comment on this. I think gauchos in general are ridiculous and unflattering. I also think the pants under the skirt thing is not so kosher either. The only women who can get away with wearing gauchos are pregnant women. Oh, and by the way, after spending a couple of hours in the park yesterday doing careful and productive people watching, it looks like every other woman in Brooklyn is preggers. Anyone else notice that?
crooklyn preggosity is nothing new. it goes something like this

    1. work in city
    2. live/party in city
    3. meet suitable breeding partner
    4. get priced out of city -- move to crooklyn
    5. get dog
    6. get hitched
    7. get preggers
    8. get deluxe stroller with coffee cup holder
    9. move outside city where rents are cheaper

of course there are variations on this theme, but it's the general script

Nothing new, but last week I did notice a seeming increase. It seemed like every other woman I passed was huge with child.

That's because every time it snowed last winter, men and women were getting together and were doing the old, beach blanket bingo thing, or had just seen History of Violence. Jeepers!

Yeah, what's with the crazy stair sex in that movie??

Its hurting my brain trying to imagine what gauchos under a skirt looks like. What kind of skirt fits gauchos under it? :?
  • What kind of skirt fits gauchos under it?
    A dumb-ass skirt.

    'Twas a denim skirt.

I have noticed that. I'll also add:

NOT ME! NOT ME! (thank goodness...)

    Wha?

Now I've worn some weird stuff, but that's just stupid. How could they look in the mirror and not grimace in horror?

  • That avatar is outrageous.
  • i must have had a moment of fashion disharmonic convergence this morning! and it so perplexed me, i actually spoke about it in supervision :-).
-- a woman wearing cowboy boots and a miniskirt carrying a fucking BRIEFCASE apparently on her way to work, walking towards the q

-- a reverse-silhouette low-rise/turd-in-the-diaper jeans-wearing woman with pegged legs and sneakers and a too-short shirt for where her beer appears to be presently residing (and a tatoo to draw attention to said).

-- gauchos with strappy sandals. again, on a person apparently going to work!!!

too much for so early in the a.m. then again, i was thinking it's probably that i am getting old and clueless in my 501's. i am secretly hoping that my friends will tell me gently when they go hopelessly out of style. so i can ignore them :-)
  • how come i never spoted these people ever!!!! :(. i feel left out.
  • a reverse-silhouette low-rise/turd-in-the-diaper jeans-wearing woman with pegged legs and sneakers and a too-short shirt for where her beer appears to be presently residing (and a tatoo to draw attention to said).
Exactly! Let me show off the thing that's most unattractive about me and then highlight it with a tat! Crazy.
  • lurk around the 7th ave q train at the a.m. rush-hour (830-930) and you will become privy to the endless parade of these expressions of culture, individuality, poor-taste, loveliness, compliance, confusion, curiosity, titillation, nausea, and amusement. unfortunately, not in the preferred proportions.

but it's still better than watching couric and lauer.

    :?

yeah. I saw a woman in those on ... Tuesday at Washington & St. Johns. I wanted to weep in horror.
  • Next thing you know '88-'89 elephant leg pants will be back. I can see it on the horizon. Thar she blows!

I'm so sorry you had to see that.
  • Okay, I hate to admit it, but a couple days ago a saw a woman in gauchos... and they worked for her... That makes 1 out of the hundreds that I've seen, so still not very good odds.
  • I think having a real nice, big ass helps a woman look good in those pants.
  • I am so with you there.

  • Subject: what we have learned

    what we have learned

    1. okay so gaucho pants can only look good on hot girls because well they're hot and anything looks good on them

    2. skinny people can only where tight clothes

    3. pregnant people should be pointed and laughed at (maybe i have this one confused)

    4. everyone in prospect heights (or at least those that post in daily heights) has amazing style but are so humble that most of their profiles do not reveal there handsome, attractive faces and smart and stylish looks but rather pictures of other people, bunnys, various cartoons, sock puppets, and misc children type things. oh and that weird dude shooting lightning out his mouth ?!?

That is only in the interest of public safety. What you don't realize is that we of Daily Heights are so stylish that if you actually saw us, your eyes would bleed.
