We were wearing Girbauds and certain kids from certain neighborhoods in Brooklyn and Queens, and Staten Island were wearing Cavariccis. They were horribly tapered, pleated, and came with a metal tipped belt. Hilarious, really. If you check out the ZC site now, you can see why we looked poked fun at those clothes then.
amusingly, my current z. cavs are black jeans and a black mini skirt. they get good reviews. it's hilarious.
  • Alfy, I must say I am surprised by, but entirely supportive of your choice of clothing. If you get good comments on your Z Cavs, good for you!
  • I think BK women are the most beautiful in the whole city

    Definitely the best fed
  • liftandcut should make a comment on tube tops and tube top dresses. ladies need to know; some can wear them, others, well... yeah.
  • Seems to me that this year is all about the interior side boob - tops so drastically low-cut that they show... well, a lot of interior side boob.

    Not that I'm complaining.

Isn't the word for that "cleavage"?
  • Nah - when I think of cleavage, I think of 'em pressed together. Not such with this trend.
  • I need an illustration of this thing you call interior side boob. Please?

No doubt, tube tops are a no-no. Less than 1% of all women look good in tube tops. I've seen women with perfect boobs look awful in those tops.
  • Gauchos and UGG boots in 90 degree weather - what is wrong w/ these people.

Didn't that fellow from Queer Eye move to the neighborhood - maybe he can sort this out.

I shouldn't be surprised about the Ugg boots. I was on Waikiki beach in Honolulu a few weeks back and a woman was actually wearing bright orange Ugg boots on the beach! What the F@&#?
  • i love side boobs.

the tube top is kind of tricky - the strapless bra makes everything worse. the less boob, the better the tube top look. therefore, ladies... if you have no boobs and want to flaunt that, wear a tube top --- it's kind of hot like that. the more boob you have, refer to the above comments about revealing just the inner boob and creating cleavage.
  • I'm too pooped to properly chime in here (I could rant all night about muffin tops, culottes, tube tops and skinny jeans, etc... other sartorial fashion trends that need to be outlawed), but I just gotta say before signing off, this is one of the most entertaining threads I've read on here in a long time.:lol::lol:
  • Girls effing rule.
  • OOH I knew it was only a matter of time before someone uttered the "Z" words. Both of which were hugely popular in my hometown as well.

Anyway, screw the skinny jean hate, its one of the few trends I can actually participate in and not look like a damn fool. I sported them back in the day when I was just a little twig, and thank satan I'm still skinny enough to sport them at 33.

However, I am deeply concerned about the impending highwaisted trend on the horizon. Please, everyone knows hiphuggers are much more rock n roll. Did Booker T write a song about mom jeans? I think not.
  • Well, it's a tough choice. Do the masses prefer to see a woman in mom jeans or rolls of jiggly ass (with crack!) peeking out of the top of the hip huggers? Because of course you MUST wear a thong with those hip huggers. Personally, I think people who wear mom jeans are probably doing us all a favor.
  • how did I miss this thread?
  • Here's what I can't understand. Skinny chicks who wear hip huggers but they manage to get them a little too tight so there's that bulge sticking out on both hips. Why? How do they do it? They're skinny, there shouldn't be any bulging! Christ on a cracker, I'm a big girl and I manage to keep the bulges hidden.

ooh god no! it can't be all this black and white! these are not our only choices. no no no, ill-fitting jeans, muffin tops, and visible thongs are a retina burning pox upon us all!

I agree. I look 100x better in lower-slung pants, including jeans. I just use a belt when they stretch out or turn out to be too big so I don't show off my butt/tats/panties to whoever is walking behind me. belts are cool.
  • Could someone explain mom jeans to me? I saw that youtube guy talking about them, but I still don't know what they are.

yet another excellent question for liftandcut!

What's up with all those params? I didn't put those there! :?:

I'm with you. As a skinny girl, though, I must express my dissatisfaction with the jean people. Can they please start making some jeans that will cover my ass? Seriously. I haven't been able to buy a decent pair of jeans since 2004 (Diesel, thankyouverymuch) because every pair I look at now is either too tight or doesn't cover my jiggle. It would be nice to bend over every now and then without showing crack, is all I'm saying.
  • A salesperson at a prominent Brooklyn women's clothing boutique recently told me that skinny jeans are officially OUT. She followed that statement by saying "thank goodness." Now that it's official, I officially rest my case.

You are wrong, wrong, WRONG. Back in the '80s women's bottoms were made to fit into tight pants and then Wendy's introduced its "where's the beef" campaign and here we are.

High waisted jeans. Like, overly high waisted.

High waisted jeans. Like, overly high waisted.

    mom jeans are:

    - very high waisted
    - not tight-fitting, but not fashionably big, either. think "slacks".
    - tapered legs, but again, not tight
    - made of heavy, practical denim, so that none of the above characteristics is used to advantage, but instead makes a big, ugly, amorphous blob of one's legs
    - most often of whatever color/wash is the most out of fashion at the time
    - they also have a magic butt-flattening effect that i'm at a loss to explain and generally a heroically long zipper that just looks strange.
  • "Heroically long zipper".....so, so funny and so, so true.

    Oh no.

Please don't tell me that drop-crotch is actually next.

    Moron (sic, hah) the subject...

    Nooooooo~!

    Oh-oh, oh oh...

    STOP!

No, seriously. Just stop. I'm begging you.
