Subject: Parade
For those interesting in viewing the parade, please start lining up along the Parkway early as it gets extremely crowded. The official kick off is 11 AM.
I'll be out there marching with D'Midas International Mas Camp. Looking forward to see you guys out there. -
If one wasn't able to make it up there until 2 or 3pm is it still worth trying, or do the experienced paradegoers amongst us think it will just be too crowded and insane by that point? I don't mind just walking up and checking it out but a friend from Manhattan is trying to figure out whether he should come.

He should come! As long as you get there before about 4pm, it's totally worth it. Stop by the Islands at the end. They always have a great booth. -
Subject: Parade + my apartment bldg = public urinal. Ugh.
I loathe the parade, and the whole Labor Day weekend here on Eastern Parkway by Franklin. The courtyard of my apartment building becomes a public urinal. There is a huge crowd of people clogging up the front yard of my building. The noise is nonstop from Friday night until late Monday night. Every year, someone gets shot or stabbed. This year, so far, seven people have been shot, two fatally.
I wish I could afford to move to a better neighborhood. -

Where and when did this happen? I haven't heard or seen anything about 7 people being shot at the parade. I heard about the guy being shot at the birthday party but nothing at the parade. Please let us know when you got your info.

if you mean the incident in fort greene on saturday to be one of them, i think you're reaching a little to blame the parade.
although i'm sorry people pee in your yard. (could be worse, check the park slope boards about people pooping in other people's yards -- and think of the rent they pay!) and i'd also like there to be fewer gun shots, all year long. -

If s/he is talking about the fort greene incident, that definitely is a reach....across Brooklyn. Surprised s/he didn't blame what happen in the Bronx on the parade as well.
Howdy, Stranger!
