Some input on this street? — Brooklynian

Some input on this street?

There's an apartment I may go have a look at. I'm looking to move ASAP and this process is starting to stress me out.

The place is on Ryerson St. and Myrtle. Can anyone let me know what the general nabe is like? Safe? Conveniences? Trees?

Thanks!

  • Nevermind, i jumped on the G train about an hour ago to check it out for myself. Walked from Classon and made a right on Myrtle. Not what I had in mind... :?

sorry, didn't feel like logging in.
  • Subject: Hello, can you tell me where this apt is and

how much does it cost??? size?

pls send me an email: [email protected]

also, i can give you the phone number of a property mgr that has several 1 + 2 bdrs. available in this area, if you're interested.

    thanks!
  • Heya Sharise, if you register an account here you can then send and receive PMs (private messages) on the board so you don't have to put your email address out here for all to see in order to be contacted for this. Spammers harvest email addresses off of all sorts of websites, including this one, so it would protect you from that a bit.

You certainly don't *have* to register, but if you do let me know -- I'd be happy to take your email address off that post for you if you want me to.

(Edited to add: Oops -- forgot I'm only a mod on the CH forum, but if you register and want your address taken down I'm sure one of the mods for this forum would be happy to oblige.)

boo! I live a few blocks away and i love it. to each his/her own.

myrtle isn't the prettiest but my street sure is
  • sorry, boy. maybe i could have looked at it from another angle, i mean, there WAS los pollitos, interesting little mexican rest. on the corner, and this other spanish-chinese place right across the street...oh, and that cute record/cd joint on myrtle...

but i just could not get around the jacked up sidewalks on ryerson st. and the i-forgot-how-many-block-walk to the subway. :?

so, sharise, it was a 1 bedroom very nice details (marble fireplace, hwf), i didn't love that it had carpeting (berber), and i think it was $1100 or so. if it sounds too good to be true, right?
  • Subject: Eve, I'm gonna be straight with you

you missed out. you cannot let small things like that turn you off of an apt.

people are out there dealing with MICE, NO HEAT, NO WATER, bad construction, horrible landlords, crime, etc etc, so you can't let extremely small things turn you off with the rental market the way it is.

the G train sucks, but people get used to the G. what i would do if i lived in that area would be to take the bus down Myrtle to downtown Brooklyn and catch a train from there.

it's up to you, but if it's still available to you, i would take it if i were you!
  • i've turned down apts for the "limited" access to subway reason :). That stuff is important..especially in winter  As to the G train..i think its great.. :D but then again I live right across the street and think its the bes of both worlds..ez access with none of the foot traffic of a more heavily travelled line :D
  • i hear you sharise, but for me the issue really was bigger than the longer walk to the subway (although it was up there on my list of cons). Bottom line is that i just didn't think i'd feel safe walking home late at night in the nabe

haha. it's funny you should mention those. I swear there was some kind of mini earthquake or something under that road. it used to have the worst dips and potholes until they filled them in.
