Tennis in PH/FG??
So does anyone know the deal with those 2 nice tennis courts on Cumberland just north of Atlantic?
They look like regular public city courts to me - is this true?
Speaking of which, does anyone in the neighborhood want to play tennis? i'm decent: a little bit out of practice and a lotta bit competitive...

I think those are the courts that used to be part of the South Oxford Tennis Club. The Club was closed 10 or so years ago when the city gave the property to developers as part of the Atlantic Terminal project. The Club was in an really beautiful large Victorian that sat on the property and had the courts adjacent to it. I thought that they were originally going to raze the entire thing for homes but the courts seem to have survived. Don't know who controls them now.

Isn't north of Atlantic technically Fort Greene?

I think so. Looks like those are public courts operated by the city

Does anyone know if there is an alternate name for this park/tennis courts? On a couple of occassions the park has been locked in the morning and I'm trying to find out who is in charge of the gates to find out the hours that the park is open. The city's park telephone information (aka 311) had no record of this park, listed as "South Oxford Tennis Club" on their very own website. When I asked 311 for the direct number for the Park's Department, they told me that 311 *IS* the number for the Parks Dept. Go figure! So if anyone has ANY information about this park and who manages it, PLEASE let me know. thank you!

I'm up for tennis weekday evening or anytime during the weekend. PM me. I have like five good rackets so we can get a doubles game!

I would love to play, but I do not have a racket.
I do know there are supposed to be other courts. I will have to see if I cannot find them.
Howdy, Stranger!
