I just killed the biggest motherfuckin' mosquito ever. WTF, mate?
-
my friend was taking ac unit out of the wall and some skeeters came out. i think they were living there. that was a while back.
-
Good call Armchair. I think you may have hit a goldmine. I did the same thing and think they may have come from there too. I didn't even think about that!
-
when ever i turn the facet on, 2 or 3 fly out. now the mice are starting up...
-
This summer I was really missing my old back yard (my charming landlady evicted me last winter) but now I'm not feeling so bad. Even last summer the mosquitos made it impossible for me to enjoy my garden in the late summer.
Several times the last few weeks I've come home from walking around the nabe with a bite on my face :x . Benadryl topical gel works the best for me for bites. -
Ok, I pretty much "bombed" the basement, stuffed tons of insecticide down our sinks and drains, burned incense, and these lil' fuckers are still ringing in my ear as I try to fall asleep. Does anybody have a recipe for disaster for these little bitches?

This is starting to sound like something on the Sci Fi channel.

on the nights i really have to sleep i take codeine or this cough syrup from china that knocks me out(?). the roommate is now possibly hooked on sleeping pills. -
Well, not that I'd recommend this, but about a week ago on one of those days when it was in the mid-50's the SO opened all of the windows in the house for about three hours. The cold air flooded the place, and I was chilled to the bone for the rest of the evening, but it seemed to do the trick.

Is there a product available here that's equivalent to this extremely effective one?

Under conditions much more extreme than I've experienced in Brooklyn, basically living in a swamp, we'd flick the switch and watch them fall out of the air and off the walls within a minute. Sweep them up in the morning after a good night's sleep. -
I'm confused - it's called a Zapper, but it sounds like it repels them, not zaps them?
And I think 'mozzie' is too cute a word for the evil things. -

Both. It's a small mat soaked in pyrethroids (natural insecticides) which vaporize over the course of the night on a tiny hotplate. At the first strong whiff when you switch it on, those already in the room tend to die, though smaller doses cause temporary paralysis. So those outside are strongly encouraged not to enter for 10 hours, by losing the will to fly or crawl the closer they get.laura wrote: And I think 'mozzie' is too cute a word for the evil things.
What can I say? The product was developed to combat the evil Aussie Mozzie. -
damn the warm weather. i just killed one. in a diffrent part of brooklyn.

Subject: biting bugs I hate them
I just read this post today and I feel so much better knowing that my daughter and I are not crazy. all summer was horrible. then just last month each night I had to prepare for bed as if I was going out hiking in the wilderness. Off, skin so soft spraying my linen , then later benedryl, alcohol whatever it was terrible. I tried stuffing all the crackes in the windows but it wasn't helping I believe they were sneaking in with me when I came home from work.
I live on Park Pl Nostrand, Ny -
My bf never gets bitten. Maybe someday they'll come up with a pill that makes us unlucky ones unattractive to mosquitos.
-
skeeters find the ones who sweat more and exercise more food!!!
-
Well my idea of exercise is lifting a margarita so that doesn't explain it.
Unless skeeters like margaritas. -
My sister was in town from mosquito-infested FLA and got chowed at the BnB on Carlton. She admits Florida is bad, but not indoors like here. Weird, huh?
-
just found one sucker indoors. I'm wondering where the heck they are coming from still!!!!
hope its not a mutant variety. -
Which reminds me, whatever happened to killer bees?
-
they probably couldn't handle the cold :P. just in southern part of the united states.
-
laura wrote: Which reminds me, whatever happened to killer bees?
I heard those Africanized killer bees assimilated with wimpy liberal American bees of European extraction and were no longer a threat the closer they came to the blue states.
PS: it's the Midwestern wasps you really have to watch out for. -

Why didn't I think of that? BRILLIANT! -
Gaaaah!! Mosquitoes back with a vengeance last night. Anyone else?
-

Yes, they've been back the last couple of nights...had one buzzing in my ear two nights ago and a sizeable bite on my back. Is it really almost December? I've never wanted it to get cold more than this year. -
Kind of crazy, huh? I've been thoroghly attacked this evening and have applied the fucking deep woods off again. Deep Woods? In Brooklyn? In December? Huh?
-
i should ice my house!!! found 2 last night! i think they are coming from some where that retain water. me think its my mom's water plant things!@!!!
-
It's global warming. We're all a-gonna die.
-
