go to deluxe (n 4th st and roebling) and ask for Marcie. she rules. 718-387-2970. she used to work for bumble and bumble and was one of their instructors in addition to cutting hair. she knows her stuff. -

I like delux. Have gotten some decent cuts there from Joy, I also think that Ericka at Public down the street is pretty great. She cuts my long somewhat unruly hair really well and does great color as well. -
I used to go to Bumble + Bumble for the free model cuts but decided to start getting cuts in my neighborhood. I eschewed Public for being a bit expensive (hard to go from free to $95!) but based on on-line reviews and helpfulness of the receptionist, I booked at Mousey Brown. I've had my share of traumatic cuts and great cuts, and I must say that Meredith @MB gave me exactly what I was looking for. She could tell right away that the soft water in my new apartment had led to buildup and did a clarifying rinse along with the shampoo, etc. My hair has looked fantastic since the cut. Much healthier. No pretention there, either. Friendly but chill.

i recently got a great haircut at public for like $65. my hairstylist was alder... i'll probably go back there for my next one. it had the typical williamsburgh vibe, but everyone was very friendly and alder was great. although, mousey brown was my next option and i'm curious to try that place out.

I actually don't even know the name of the place (as there's no sign and i've just never asked) but it's art 148 Ainslie just off Lorimer. I go to Thom there and he is great. He's great at giving you what you want but also for letting him do his own thing and work on something specified to you. He used to work at Hello Beautiful and came recommended by friend's hairdresser when she lived in Boston. She loved him and recommended him to me and now I won't go anywhere else. You can give em a ring at 718 384 1677.

she doesnt work at a salon at the moment, but does clients all the time on the fly. sometimes we have like 5 people sitting in our living room waiting to get snipped.
she's always looking for new clients.

Subject: Andrea in Prospect Heights
I have curly hair and it's hard to find a good person to cut that. I go to Andrea's in Prospect Height. She listens well, gets what you want, and the time spent is super relaxing. It's actually the best haircuts I've had ever. No joke. Most of my friends have now started going to her, both with curly and straight hair. Check her out here http://andreapalumbos.phanfare.com/
