  • Check out the denim lounge on Bedford and Halsey on a Thursday night; go to www.shopbedstuy.com.

If they're baiting you? Yes. Because if they're just baiting you, then the reason they post the insane crap they do isn't because they believe it, but instead it's because they get off on seeing you get wound up. If you just blow them off, they get bored and go away.

Frankly, if I want someone getting off on things I'd say, I'd rather it be intentional...

  • The place on St. Marks and Bedford is great on Tuesday 8pm - 12mid for jam sessions and drinks and food. Support your neighborhood. Think global act local.
  • i tried reading through the entire thread but still couldn't find an answer to the following question....looking for an upscale lounge type spot that plays r&b & hip hop preferablly professional black folk crowd?
  • Rustik is my new favorite bar in Clinton Hill by far. Stopped in for the first time last night and it's great - open, warm, classy space, good beers, good food, and good people running it. It would be my favorite CH bar even if it wasn't quite literally in my backyard :)

  • lmboogie, you might want to try Moe's on Lafayette & South Portland on Friday or Saturday nights. It's not exactly upscale, but it does attract a diverse crowd and it's always hopping when I walk by.

During the week Moe's is less of a "destination bar" and more of a neighborhood spot, much more laid back.
  • Cellars owner died. I haven't any news about what will happen to the space. Awesome space and locale.
I don't mind getting my dance on at Liquid Love {Bedford Ave.} now and then. Nice music, I've had some fun there.
Has anyone checked out the new Lox Lounge on Putnam?
  • What is "Liquid Love Lounge" like? It is my favorite sign in the neighborhood. Didn't it used to be Larry's Liquid Love?
  • And with that last post I became a "regular" and no longer a newbie! Anyone know a good bar where I can celebrate?
  • can't beat the $1 PBRs at Rope tomorrow night :D

As well as the monthly trivia contest. They've got decent prizes -- cash for first place, a bar tab for second. They used to give away really crappy DVDs for last place; now it's a "date kit", a ziploc baggie of mints, a couple condoms, and two cigarettes.
  • damn i'd be more than happy with any of the above. might even gun for third place to get the free smokes. i'll haveta round up the troops and check out the next one.

The free smokes are actually for LAST place, just to be clear.

It's usually a fun time -- they as one special bonus question about halfway through, and every team that gets it right gets a free round of shots. They also give another free round of shots to the team that has the best name.

It's usually 9 pm the first Tuesday of every month; $2 per person to play.

I currently hold the record for the highest score ever attained by a solo player. (preen) These days, though, I play with the guy I'd had a long-standing crush on who finally revealed he'd had one on me too, after the first time he joined me in a game. We haven't placed much above 4th ever since, but I don't mind so much. :)
  • well i can surely handle last place too haha. but i love trivia nights. hmm i might have to see if i can assemble a team for tomorrow night. i havent been to Rope on a tuesday, they still do the pizza deal right? or is that just wishful thinking.
  • Pizza on Tuesdays isn't something I've seen. You can bring food in, that's all I know...
  • curses, i figured so. operation assemble trivia team is now underway...
  • guest2 wrote: Red Bamboo has a cool bar, i heard the new Pillow Cafe is going to serve beer/wine and it looks pretty great in there, there's a bar at the Austrian restaurant across from BAM, there are also several bars on Fulton. also, there's a new rumor going around that someone is opening a bar/art gallery in the old Pleasure Palace space. could be cool but can anyone confirm it?
Guest2, What type of red bamboo with a cool bar? Could you pls show me some photos of that?
  • hill38 wrote: I haven't been to Five Spot in a quick second but they often have good live music there as well (and depending on what time you go, no or limited cover). The drinks were just ok but the jazz group I saw a while back was great.

If anyone knows of bars closer to Franklin/Bedford, please post! Thx. :)
I LOVE the Tip Top Bar and Grill on Franklin. Awesome summertime patio and the place is cheap and friendly. probably my favorite.

Sweet Revenge is alright, it also has a patio and some cheap drink specials.

Me and my buddy tried to go to Liquid Love of Bedford but they tried to charge us a cover on a Sunday when no one was there. We'll try again.
