A New All Brooklyn Forum — Brooklynian

A New All Brooklyn Forum

I have become an avid reader of these message boards and have posted probably three times. I am moving to Brooklyn and I am interested in Brooklyn as a whole and then neighborhoods in general. I love the information about places to go, various services, food information and whatever I can learn about safety in Brooklyn before I actually become a Brooklyn resident. When I become a resident I will still be interested in these topics. As I read the posts for all of the neighborhoods. I realized early on that the nabes with the most posts are the most interesting. Gentrification, baby strollers; good restaurants all interest me.
To cut to the chase
Perhaps have one General Brooklyn category located as the first choice where EVERYONE is allowed to post (you have this but it is not used much and the Lounge board is too sketchy). On this board the poster would introduce their nabe in the subject line with their topic.

The neighborhood forums are great and would continue to be used for those interested in speaking and sharing information with their neighborhood residents.

Some nabes have very few posters and seem not to be too interested in participating.
I read the Slope, Fort Greene, and the Heights everyday. (I will be moving to Fort Greene) and all the others when there is a current posting.
I don’t post because I am not very good at sarcasm and frankly so many of the constant posters are not very friendly, but I do enjoy the board immensely.

Again coming from a non Brooklynite (yet) this email is worth every penny you paid for it

Keep up the good work!

  • good luck with your forthcoming move to crooklyn

i doubt your suggestion would work as most would post there
at the expense of posting in the neighborhood appropriate forum

and the noise level would grow intolerable

what could work further down the road is a wiki-enabled
bulletin board -- where all the posts are interlinked

wonder if any such beast exists?

good luck again with your move

this sounds interesting - what would this look like? what exactly do you want to do that you can't do already?
  • ``Brooklyn as a whole``

Perhaps a good idea would be for people to name the street they live on and to give a brief history of the person for whom that street was named.

If you grew up in East New York, you would readily know what Alabama, Georgia, Pennsylvania Avenues represent. But what of Sheffield or Dumont Avenues?

Please consider that for a forum discussion.
  • um. we have a forum. it's called brooklyn and beyond. check it out. use it.
