You need the address of where your photo is stored online. To get it, right-click the photo and go to 'properties.' Highlight and copy the location (with firefox, you can just right-click and choose 'copy image location'). When you post here, just paste the location, highlight it and hit the 'Img' button above. It'll look like this -

But you'll get this - image

  • That works, but kitties look even cuter in HTML. The code is:
    <img src="">
    So your image would be:
    <img src="http://static.flickr.com/31/62513442_75a2e44e97_m.jpg">
    And it would look like this (may I emphasize: even cuter than above!):

    image
  • I don't know... black levels look better the other way!

    Less bandwidth your way?! :wink:

    Also, since this thread has been stickied, and it was mentioned in another thread, post split - when posting the image location, the last part of the address should be the file type - .jpg or whatever the case may be. Any text after the file type may render the link inoperable (sites like Flickr sometimes throw in extra letters/numbers with the thumbnail views - thumbnails are essentially them opening a small window to the file location, which is kinda like what you're trying to do when you post a picture here. Opening a window to their window doesn't always work).
  • The other thing that's important to know about Flickr is that even though each photo has its own page, you can't put the address of the page (ending in .html) in the tags WhyFi and dailyheights demonstrated above. It has to be the address of the image itself, usually ending in .jpg (sometimes .gif or .png).
  • Let's look at them side by side:
    imageimage
    I'm not saying which is which (you'll have to quote this to check), but I think they're identical. And the file size is the same (obviously).

    No way, man! There's TOTALLY more black-level detail (more 'depth' - shades of black) on one!!! :twisted: :P :twisted: :P :twisted:

    I'm unconvinced. To me it seems like whichever has the better screen angle looks better.
  • Sorry... I was only kidding about kitties looking cuter in HTML. There is no difference in image quality. (although you are right - the black levels do look different between posts because of the different background colors of the posts!)

    I do prefer that people use HTML because I don't see the point of having a separate "BBCode" markup language. If we ever migrate this board away from the current phpbb message board system to something that uses standard HTML tags, all those BBCode entries will break.

    img button? i don't think i have that as an option

    After you copy and paste the image text hit "preview" not "submit".
    Then scroll down and high light the picture text (as if you're going to copy it) and then go click on the "IMG" button.

    Or just type this in at the beginning of your picture link --> image
    And type this on the end ---> " alt="" />
  • yay. it worked! thanks em.
