Saje Opens at Last, and with Gorilla Coffee no less!

I am all for mellow atmosphere and don't mind slow as much as inefficient and incompetent people.
To me the problem with service at Saje is that there seems to be such a high turnover of waitstaff, that by the time they get it together, they are gone (or maybe they are gone because they never got it together). The only efficient person i met there was Peter, he was great, i was sad to see him go. I don't mean to disrespect th other waitstaff, honestly i don't go there too often, so there might be/have been other great people in there. -

Meanwhile the neighborhood is rapidly gentrifying (judge away) and the demand is obviously growing by the day for "trendy" places to pull up a chair.
There are several good health food stores on Nostrand if you're willing to make the trek.
I'm just sayin' - Park Slope is glutted with trendy lil bistros, cafes, eateries, bagelries, tapas places, etc. etc. Almost a day doesn't go by when a new one pops up. In Crown Heights there is basically Jamaican food, and other Carribean food, and almost nothing else. Maybe a Mexican restaurant, IDK. I think I saw one cafe on Washington Avenue but there was not another w/i blocks and blocks and blocks.
So my point? Nothing . . . just funny how there seems to be such excitement over a lil eatery opening on Franklin. Makes me feel validated I guess. -

I don't know about Saje anymore, it kind of lost me now. They're serving Liquor now? Just what we need, another place in the drug infested area that sells alcohol. It's losing it's grassroots touch.

Where did Nazia go? She was my favorite waitress. Is she there anymore? I do like Monet and Ashley is very very welcoming, and social . We need more staff in that store who fit the mold of those waiters. But the Owner wow she is so rude. I walked in there one day and she disrespected one of her waiters right in front of me. The Poor Guy looked real hurt. I wonder if the wait staff has plans after Saje or if they are just stuck there with their Tyrant Boss. -
is franklin really drug-infested? i never see anything suggesting that. i mean, i see guys standing on corners, but that's about it.

well they're not standing there for their health. it's freezing cold, middle of winter, snow on the ground. 1 + 1 = dealer. -
Heh. That's how you determine who's a hooker on Lake Street in Minneapolis!
Woman in down coat standing still = hooker.
Woman in down coat walking as fast as she can to get out of the cold = probably going to visit the record store. -

lol, exactly.

p.s. - to the person who asked about nazia, i'm pretty sure she quit. so did ashley (me). -
fyi, i just saw a sign on Saje that says that they serve beer and wine now. I thought that would make some of you happy (':D')
the only problem now is...when the heck are they open?! I walk by the place many times during the day (morning) and they are closed! Anybody knows their "schedule" (since it's not posted on the door)?
Oh, Chavella's serves beer and wine as well now...yumm! -

i like byob bc it's cheap -- grabbing a beer at the corner before heading to chavella's was perfect. -

Yeah, I agree with you on the beer. Although I usually prefer wine, and unless I'm with someone who's willing to share a bottle with me, it's nice that I now have the option of ordering a glass. Especially if I'm dining solo, which I like to do sometimes.
