Picasso restaurant on 5th Ave= excellent
Hey, I live on 5th ave and was excited when this new restaurant opened, called picasso, at 75 5th ave ( at prospect place). I was kind of afraid because it's "Asian fusion" and that can often be sketchy, but I went there tonight and it was soooooo good!!! It was mainly Japanese/sushi, with a huge and relatively cheap selection. My sushi was sooooo good and fresh, and creatively displayed. They also have kitchen food like pad thai, teriyaki meats/fish, etc. Also, best of all, they are open til 11:00 PM and 11:30 weekends, and they deliver. Phone # 718 638 0888.
Seriously, I love this place and I really want them to stay in business. I know how expensive the rent must be and it was pretty empty when I was there tonight, so everyone, give it a try and spread the word! And report back!

I tried them once, and came down with a bad case of anonymous viral marketing syndrome. I had to take myself offline for a week to prevent myself from infecting blogs with my enthusiasm for their cuisine.
-
I swear to GOD I do not work for them! I live two doors down from them though, and I am committed to keeping my 11:30 PM dinners alive.
For realz. -
sweet baby james, we're going to have to develop a iron fisted anti-shilling policy like Chowhound pretty soon . . .
in the meantime, merciless ridicule will have to do
to protect us from the aledged sketchiness of asian fusion

To sneak an ad by us you'll have to be more subtle than to leave the restaurant's phone number in your post. Your word-for-word identical post has already been taken off Chowhound, which probably means that any future mention of your restaurant on that site has been banned. Nice work.
-
Consider your shameless shilling to have backfired. Thanks to you, I now vow NEVER to eat there. And I like Asian fusion. And I order take-out A LOT. But I need to restore the karmic balance that your brazen whoring has disrupted. The joint is now officially on my shit list. Nice work, douchebag.
-
Yeah, the phone number was the giveaway.
-
no way! i TOTALLY don't work for them!!! but if you're interested in delivery, their boundaries are 17th to the south, 2nd ave to the west, washington to the east and atlantic to the north. if you live a little outside there, just tell JC that you'll give him an extra couple bucks. he's the delivery guy! SO nice! and fast, too! you should see his little legs pumping as he speeds down the street!
-
"little legs pumping as he speeds down the street?" He sounds like a hamster!
I really thought you did work for them, but since you threw in "TOTALLY", I'm convinced you don't    -

Maybe it's late, but your triple negative is confusing me... :? -
Ha! WhyFi, I just edited it. I was confusing myself. I blame the wine. I always blame the wine (even when there is none).

Geez people - lighten up. Who cares if he is pumping his own restaurant? Did it break a RULE?? Oh noooo! Too bad that being an pompus, self important net geek isn't against the rules.
-
I was, like, TOTALLY, confused for a minute. Then a little hamster came and delivered some food from Picasso (before they closed for the night) and now everything is like, totally, CLEAR.

Because there's a big difference between what Guest did and "Hey guys. I have a restaurant that serves Asian-fusion food located at _____. We're open until ______ and we deliver. Come check us out and let us know what you think" -
Oh, and just so it's clear (because Carnivore's going to blow my cover anyway ), I was Guest post number 3... :-$
-
You mean JC isn't going to run his little hamster legs over to my house really, really fast if I give him a few extra bucks? Damn! Another dream shattered. Shattered, I tell ya!

whyfi ...you ham..ster. -
I can't find Picasso's menu online. Does anyone have a link?
-
It's not on Menutopia.
-
this is really shitty. i honestly don't work for the stupid restaurant, i'm just a person who lives on the block. this has seriously backfired and i feel terrible about it, so just, whatever, don't go there. i thought i was doing a nice thing for the new place on the street! jeez, dudes, you're really harsh.

Ok, whether this "guest" works there or not, I went to Picasso last week with my mother and it really was great, starting with the extremely tasty green tea. The sushi was fresh, service was good, prices were ok. Not sure about the name, decor, or fusion thing, but it definitely beats Tatsu (where I have been getting delivery from). Oh, and if anyone is able to tell me why an Asian place has a name like a pizza place, please let me know.

What's the rule?
I'm guessing that if you pretend to be a patron to give your own business a plug, you're violating the rules and will be deemed a “douche bag†and sentenced by Brooklynian's Administrators to die a slow and painful death.
If you are a business owner, and blatantly state that you want to inform residents of your business, is it OK to boast about your business as long as you post your information in a specific section of this forum, like Market Place?
How can you tell the difference between a resident's rave review and an actual business owner pretending to be a patron?
I despise reading patrons' positive reviews of restaurants on this forum that lack information on their praised restaurants’ location, contact information, and official title. When I read positive reviews of restaurants that serve food that sounds appealing, it’s helpful if the poster includes the phone number, address, and any other details they have on delivery services, brunch, etc..
As long as the information is accurate, I'm not that concerned about who is posting it.
From reading the original post, I can't tell if the original poster is an enthusiastic eater or a "douche bag" and I'm not sure how much I care.
Then again, to lie and be dishonest in general is not cool. So if someone is claiming to be a patron of their own business, that is not cool. -
Hello, this is my first post on this board, I just moved to the Slope in August from Bay Ridge. If this helps, I did recently order from Picasso and it was really good. I had the spicy tuna and the spicy salmon rolls and the fried cheesecake (that was a little disappointing).
P.S. I don't work for the restaurant. I'm an actor. :-D -
I live across the street and picked up menu last night with all intentions to eat there today... confused now, shall I go or not? Damn decisions... see what you've done, Guest? [-(
-
why does this thread have a star next to it? i clicked on it to see some opinions on the new restaurant, yet any potentially useful information is hidden amongst tiresome banter. do we really need 20 of the 23 posts to discuss whether the original poster is a shill? who really cares anyway? if you left this thread for others with real experiences on the place, we could see whether others share opinions similar to the orignal poster's or not. instead, this thread has become like so many others on this board - cluttered up with attempts at clever posts, which are just useless and tiresome.

This whole thing is fucking lame.
But the shrimp tempura is fucking good. -

dear guest,
we'd rather you didn't shill
and we'd rather you didn't swear
This post is starred because we like to reward each other for cleverly taking care of our own little community.
cyn707, I agree that's a little bit of a flaw when it comes to why you'd look at a restaurant post. Meh, imperfect system. The choices are delete, or leave up and let the people decide. We're going for the later option.
Thanks Zebra for pointing out the Chowhound thing -- I was making a funny, but it turns out to be a case in point . . . -

Shall I commence with the booing and hissing?
