Agreed... "Plan B" makes me think of one thing only, and it's not a bar in Brooklyn... -

What movie is that? I need to see it.

The Posiden Adventure (the original, not the crappy remake)

Since "Plan B" as a name isn't appealing to you all, how about some suggestions for our newest community member?
ProsPinot? VanderBites?
Surely someone can come up with something more clever than I?
How about a contest, Greg? -

Whole!

Second half?
ANYTHING but Plan B. Good lord please just not Plan B. I'd be so embarassed to tell friends "Hey guys! lets go to Plan B?!?!" or if i called 411 I'm sure they'd fuck up and just connect me to planned parenthood.
I'm with Whole, or Hole is even more appealing. -
Thanks for all the comments some of them really made me laugh. I appreciate all the comments postive and negative and look forward to seeing many of you at the bar. Hoping for oct 1.......but you never know

Glad to hear this space is going to be active again.
Previous investor was really up a tree.
FWIW - while i can understand some peoples distaste,
the term "lets go to Plan B" has been around forever.
Considering what happened at this location
it actually makes quite alot of sense in that context.

even though i admit that Plan B brought immediately to my mind, too, the morning after pill, so what? i think it's as good a name as most. who cares. (and i like the rather poignant back-story of greg the owner's "plan b" life change after his wife died and he found himself with 3 kids and a desire to get away from the manhattan money investment banking world. cheers to that, man, put some of that money into people and neighborhoods and fun. nice.)
anyway, a very attractive awning has gone up which somehow already looks quite promising to me and my husband (i tend to judge a book by its cover). we're hoping for something that's kind of like a cross between soda and tavern on dean -- like more of a bar than TonD, but more of a restaurant than Soda? And good "regular" food. Maybe our wishes have been answered -- and so close to us -- i can't imagine we won't go there all the time, unless there's some weird thing wrong with it. we shall see.
btw, anyone know what's going on in the space near Bob Law's -- in what i think used to be some kind of electronics repair place or something? -
I am so glad Plan B is opening soon, Greg has promised to have lunch available, and he'll deliver to me at the shop! I've met him numerous times, he's a super friendly guy who already patronizes the neighborhoods businesses, and I appreciate that!

I am with giraffehead on this one... A *catchy* name is not relevant to me. OK, if the place is called Adolf's Pub, I may be inclined to pass. But at this point, all I've seen re: Plan B is a new awning with an attractive sign in a subdued, readable font. Let us patronize, then judge. -

greg--looking forward to your opening and just wanted to respond to this, which seems to have drawn some positive and negative feedback. i'm one of the people who will not patronize a bar or restaurant with loud tvs and would prefer none at all. however if you must, a good compromise is to mute them and turn on the closed captioning. people who want to watch can and people who don't aren't subjected to it whether they like it or not. and you can always turn the volume back on for a special event.
thanks for listening. good luck. -
There's actually a bar in the East Village called Plan B - who hosted a fundraiser for Planned Parenthood of NYC called Plan B for Plan B - place was packed!
I don't think there's room in NYC for 2 bars named Plan B - do you?

The one in the East Village will be referred to as Original Famous Plan B. -
Has there been any movement on this place recently? I know the original dates have all passed.
-
I hear the owners of Plan B have been making a lot of appearances at the bar at Beast.
-
I peeked in Plan B last night. Work continues. Looks like the cable has been installed—I watched (the owner?) watch ESPN on a big LCD TV as he took a break from getting the place in order. Wish I had more details but it was dark and kinda dark inside the place... I think it has a garden out back.
-
Thanks, guys! I'm hopeful that it will be cool once they're finally able to pull the paper off the windows.
-
What's the latest folks? The paper is off the windows, place looks great...when can we get in there and enjoy ourselves?
-
If I was a betting man, I'd say they're rushing to open for Super Bowl Sunday.
-
those are some serious teles up in there, eh?
-
When I went by at around 11 last night (in a cab), it was lit up, there were a lot of people inside, and everything looked pretty much ready to go. I don't know if that was a soft opening, or just people getting some last-minute work done on the place, but either way it sure looks like it will be open soon.

every evening when i pass Plan B on da way home it seems SO primed to be open, and yet, it's still closed. maybe liquor license woes?
-
Passed by this place last night - it's looking good, but still unopened. The TVs were on and the tap handles have been installed. It looked as if they were still working on the floors. Looking forward to it's grand opening.
-
I truly hope that they rethink the black lawn chairs that they have in there. Perhaps thats why they are taking so long to open.
