24 hour delis things? — Brooklynian

24 hour delis things?

Anyone know of any decent 24-hour delis and / or pharmacies and / or restaurants in Ft. Greene?

It can be difficult getting a decent sandwich or even toilet paper after 11pm.

Also - any late night delis this side of Flatbush?

  • The closest 24 hr pharmacy that I know of is way over on 5th avenue in Pk Slope, although you might want to check out Pathmark's pharmacy. I'm pretty sure it closes, though.

There's some bodegas and chinese spots along dekalb that stay open all night long. Can't say much for the quality but in a pinch they might be better than nothing. KFC (that's Kennedy, not Kentucky) on Fulton and Lafayette stays open very late--maybe all night, not sure--and incidently doubles as an Indian restaurant. :? The owner swore to me, "We only use the finest ingredients...."
  • BTW, do you often find yourself w/out toilet paper after 11 pm? I've never heard that one before.

Not everyone works 9-5. I often get off work at 11pm or 2am (or 7am). When I used to live in Manhattan, I could still stop off for errands on the way home from work. Now it's much harder to do that. It's not that big a deal, but being able to do errands on the way home from work is a nice convenience that people who work 9-5 take for granted.
  • I just like buying toilet paper late at night. 1 AM...2 AM I can't get enough of it. It's MAD HOT.
  • I tend to work late and have things going on in Manhattan after work. I'm often lucky to get home by 11:30 or midnight and need to run some basic errands, that's all.

Thanks for the replies! And thanks for understanding that not everyone can get to the store before 9pm.

FYI, was able to pick up a slice at Not Ray's after 10pm the other night, so that's good news.

So you're telling me you've never come home late at night only to find that you didn't have, say, toilet paper, toothpaste, soap, or whatever? You've never run to the drug store at 1am for some emergency antihistamines or aspirin for a loved one?

I find that hard to believe.

Good to know. I tend to conveniently forget the existence of Atlantic Center.
  • Subject: 24 hour ft. green

There are two 24 hour delis, directly across from each other, on the corners of St. Felix and Dekalb. I think there are a few on Myrtle in Clinton Hill as well, but I haven't been in a while.

The diner on 3rd Ave and Atlantic is 24 hour and may be a short walk depending on where in FG you live.

The closest 24 hour pharmacy i know of is pretty far down on Fulton Mall, but I have had to take that walk a couple times.

    Unfortunately, this diner is horrible.

Agreed. I got sick from something as simple as eggs & bacon. I'm staying away.
