Latest from DDDB
I guess this is a bit of a rant but as much I am against the arena because I'd rather see the money spent on educating the youth, whom without, will soon resort to robbing/mugging us.
So the latest is "MOU for Dummies Reveals Massive Taxpayers Subsidies", I appreciate all that these guys are doing but why cant they be more profesional and not do so much name calling, no paper will reprint their numbers and finding with a name like "MOU for Dummies". I wish they'd stick to the facts maybe more people would be willing to actually read their argument even if they dont agree.

Have you read this board during the past week? The youth are already robbing and mugging us. Hide that iPod!

I couldn't agree more, Cap'n. I signed one of their online petitions a while back, but was mortified by the childishness of some of the language.

how closely did you look at that petition? its not a DDDB petition. don't paint with such a large brush. -

Captain Marvelous, did you read the report we wrote? Have you seen the hugely successful series of "how to" books called "_______ for Dummies." Do you think those books are trying to say that its readers are dummies are that the book's content is made clear and simplifies a complicated subject? Do you think we, DDDB, were calling people Dummies or piggybacking on that well-known brand to say 'here is a simplified report on the MOU and the subsidies for the Ratner project." ?

thanks for appreciating our work. if you read the report you'll see that it is highly professional. NOBODY in the media has bothered to add up the cost to the taxpayer of the direct and indirect subsidies. We volunteers did. please take the media to task a little more. -

I read the report, and I have seen the line of books you mention. I dont think you are calling anyone a dummy. What I am saying is that often I find the information referred to in a tounge-in-cheek manner, with Ratner,Bloomberg, and Markowitz referred to on a first name basis in a buffonish manner.
The data you provide is important and crucial in allowing people to make their own decisions as to whether the forementioned gentlemen are helping the community or just standing to make a fortune on the backs of the taxpayers. Those that do back the project think Mr. Markowitz and others are doing the community a great service and dont refer to them as Marty or anything else, and have much respect for them. These are the people that I believe would benefit most from work. I have much respect for you Dan, and your efforts are inspiring, I think if any union leader came to me with report saying "Danny G's data is crappy", I dont think I'd look it over.
lastly, let me apologize if you interpret my comment as an attck on your work or as coming from someone who thinks they could do better, I could not. This is also only my opinion. I support you, Latisha James and everyone else in this matter and consider you to be an extremely valuable asset to the community. -

Unfortunately we live in a time when the "news" media is shit, the best we can do is read all the information, from both sides, educate ourselves and come to our own conclusion. The news I can appreciate most doesnt come from any particular corner, which is why I made my original comment. Unfortunately it takes a solid education to look past all the PR onslaught and Bling, which is exactly why I'd prefer the money spent on education. You are, however, completely right. -

Marty, prefers to be called Marty, calling him Mr. Markowitz, to him, is an insult. I challenge you to show me one document or anything else put forth by DDDB that is rude or irreverant beyond what is acceptable, or that calls Bloomberg "Mike" or Ratner "Bruce" ok, on occassion we've callled him Bruce. but you know what? thats his name.
Mind you, when a coroporate entity with the backing of political friends, funded by that corporate entity, declare war on your community, sometimes its not going to be all honey and roses.
And lastly, its Letitia, not Latisha.
Howdy, Stranger!
