Math Man! Math Man!
wasn't Math Man from Square One?
(says the socially ill-adept child of the 80s who was only allowed to watch PBS) -
God I feel so old - my favorite was Easy Reader from Electric Company
Sherlock from the Magic Garden and who remembers Wonderama - "Kids are people, kids are people, kids are people too" (now I will have that song in my head all day) -
wasn't Easy Reader done by Morgan Freeman?? I remember him. He was groovy.

That' Bob McCalister. Inventor of the morning exercise show with his "Jumping Jacks" segment.

Butterfly in the sky! I can go twice as high...

Seriously?!
Nice 'do, man.
Do you know whatever happened to the other kids? -
Kenny's a higher up in the Michigan chapter of the NRA, I believe Nina does social work in Tokyo, Tommy and Nancy were doing straight to video Cinemax softcore in the late '80's and early '90's, nobody has a clue what happened to Jon. The last anyone heard he was an extra in "Ishtar".

First of all, I LOVED Zoom.
Second, I could swear I went to summer camp in New England with one of the Zoom cast. Can't remember who, but we're talking 30+ years ago. -

I think the only thing I remember from 3-2-1 Contact is the theme song, then. But I do remember liking it! -

I'm strictly Q. Unless of course I have Halal Chinese for lunch then I grab the D on Pac and 4th. -
Hi everyone, I'm pretty new to the forum and this seemed like a good thread to post on. I was born in Bklyn and so were my parents and grandparents. I was born in Marine Park and then moved to Park Slope when I was 3. I graduated from ps 39 then moved to Bensonhurst. THEN I moved back to Marine Park and now im back in Park Slope. Here's something interesting that i found out not so long ago. My Grandpa rented an apartment on 15th btw PPW and 8th back in the 50s. He lived there with my Mom and Uncle. Aparently they have lived all over park slope from what they tell me,and all along the park too. Anyways, my Grandpa paid $50 rent a month. I thought that was great. Then it made me sad because I pay a lot more:(

I care enough to answer the question..LOL
Native brooklynite.. Grew up in Brownsville, Midwood and have lived in Cobble Hill.
Most life years put in to a neighborhood?
Park Slope -
Not native to Brooklyn, BUT:
My parents were born, raised and met in The Bronx and moved to Queens. I was born in a Manhattan hospital and taken home to Queens where I lived until college (SVA) when I moved to Manhattan in various rental situations. Met my wife six years ago and we moved to Brooklyn.
It just took me a while to find my way 'home'. -
My grandparents and mom are from Brooklyn but I was born in Manhattan. Now I'm living in Brooklyn. I like it better than the isle of Manhattan.

Born and raised in Brooklyn. PS 321, JHS 51, and High School of Telecommunication Arts and Technology. My parents and their parents and their parents parents have been here since god knows when. My mom was in a Prospect Heights gang in the 60's called the Vanderbilt Avenue Juniorettes...female branch of the Juniors...oh dear.
All this nostalgia now has me thinking about Al's Toyland that used to be on 7th ave and 3rd st. -
Yup, born and bred -avenue H & 34th street. PS 119, Huddy, Midwood.

I lived on Avenue H and East 35th for about a year
Made walking to Brooklyn College pretty easy! -
Wow, it's scary how close together some of us lived! I was on E 28th between I and J. My brother went to Hudde and Midwood, but I commuted to Hunter.

When were you at Hunter Carnivore?

Actually, I do. Lately, there has been a lot of armchair urban planners that are trying to dictate what Brooklyn "is" when they just moved here.
People who moved during/after the Giuliani had it very easy. NYCers used to have grit, now they are just the same Starbucks craving person you can find in anytown USA. -

I find the subtle duality of your post psychologically fascinating. With equal snippiness, you seem to both be staking out your deserved rights as a Brooklynite to define your terms and conceding as far-gone the loss of those rights all while invoking the specter of Starbucks, itself a symbol of homogeneity.
(It's obvious, I suppose, that Guest is baiting, especially in view of the previous nastiness.)
More to the point, I was born and raised in Nebraska, lived in four other states and relish living here as an outsider. I cannot miss whatever it is that is being lost in the arrival of people like myself, and I have found that nearly all of you are glad to share whatever is left with me. It's simply a great place to live; which is a fact I might not be smart enough to appreciate had I been born here. -
8th generation Brooklynite here!! My father's side of the family has spent like the last 5 generations in Bay Ridge, and my Mom grew up in Sunset Park. I was born in Bensonhurst (84th and 16th ave) and moved to Dyker Heights when I was 9. Now I live in Cobble Hill-- soon moving to Greenwood Heights!

Born and raised in the Slope. (Anyone remember the old ice cream store on 7th ave where the stationery store currently is? It was dark and shady as all hell, but wow. Their mint chocolate chip ice cream was fantastic... at least for a five year old.)

I do. The owner was a Greek guy. The younger man who worked with him had all those military (mostly Air Force) pics all over the wall. That store had the best sundaes in town. How about Lily's? The pastry shop on 7th Ave by 6th Street next to the Radio Shack where the Subway or pizzeria is now. They had the best whipped cream eclairs this side of the Tiber. -
Subject: Park Sleazy
wooord.. I miss old school Park Sleazy... I miss all the old Italian ladies sitting in front of their buildings on Carroll Street. I remember what all these heads are talking about... Al's Toyland... and the original Purity, and the Economy, and the bars... when I go back to the Slope... seriously I don't recognize it at all, and it is a pale shadow of the tight knit community it once was, when it wasn't Manhattan Lite... when it had distinction... and was an actual Brooklyn neighborhood.. I feel what homie was sayin about Pre-Giuliani too.. cuz cats used to mix it up alot around the way.. Carrol & 6th HOLLER -

They're still there! Just below Fifth Ave all the damn time. Go old ladies! -
There is one old lady left on my block. The last old lady standing. There were a few when we moved to this block but sadly, they've all died off.
Howdy, Stranger!
