  • I know nothing about it but I'll definitely check it out.

Bit by bit, that stretch of Myrtle is really improving. there are so many abandoned store fronts that have so much potential.
  • Went last night for a few drinks. It definitely still has that "new bar" smell. It was very nice & clean inside. Bartender was cool.

Looks like it has potential. It may just need some time to develop some character.

My only complaint is that $6 pints are stupid. Pints in Brooklyn cost $5. It's only a dollar, but there are principalities © Big Worm
  • Thanks for 'taking the dive' and doing this recon, Boygabriel. $6/pint is silly. Then again, rope doesn't even have pints, do they? Hopefully Vespers will "fix the glitch."
  • I must correct myself, imported pints are $6, domestic are $5. So drinking delicious Brooklyn lager will only cost you $5.

I went back again two nights ago after we had some friends over for a dinner party. There were about 9 of us. We had fun. It was the same deal. Not a whole lot of people in the bar. Bartender was nice. We took up the row of bench seats opposite the bar. The bar itself was pretty full with patrons sitting at it.

the bar has to work on their music though. they don't have a cd collection or an ipod hook up or anything so we heard the same mix cd i heard the night before. it was actually a pretty good cd. the problem was when the "90's club anthem mix" came on. we respectfully asked the bartender if we could change it. she didn't respond too well our request but she also explained that she didn't have anything else.

maybe next time i go i'll bring a mix cd or two. i'm king of mix cds (of my fave genres)

    hip hop
    reggae
    downtempo
    dub

    ps. Rope indeed has pints

Just to give my two cents. I checked the place out last Tuesday with a couple friends of mine. We all used to go to Pratt, we had stumbled in on their innagural "dice night" which turned out to be pretty epic. If you roll 7, 11, or Doubles all the drinks in your round are only a dollar each. We started hot, and when we got cold the bartender was cool and hooked the round up at the dollar price any way once. I here you on the lack of character however still smells new. Also the tunes were solid when we were in there, the bartendar had his lap top hooked up to the stereo and had the place cookin! We're going back next Tuesday.
  • I haven't been back recently but I still remained surprised at the lack of seating. The place could use a good section of small tables and chairs. There's a lot of open space that could be better used. Essentially the place only has seating at the bar and seating on the long bench. It's kind of odd, IMO
  • Anyone been lately?

I haven't been back yet but its seemed more crowded lately. They also put some big photographs on the wall. It looks a lot better in there.
