Need some new guy friends! — Brooklynian

Need some new guy friends!

mwlsn
edited November -1 in Prospect Heights
Because mine suck. So, I’m a very cool SBF (30s) who has lived in Prospect Heights for over six years and can count the people I know from the neighborhood on one hand. Been working too hard mostly, but I have made it a resolution to get out more in this neighborhood I hardly know before I get priced out and have to move. I’m looking for new guy friends to explore all the cool places in the ‘hood and beyond (Soda, Barbes, Sputnik, Magnetic Fields, Bembe). My old guy friends are too busy to bang their heads on the punk rock nowadays and are loathe to travel to Brooklyn from Manhattan. And they don’t like to dance. It would be great to have few new buddies check out a show, meet at a local bar or restaurant, or to shoot pool or have over for a book club/poker night -- I don’t know how to play, except on my cellphone, but I have beer!. Let me know if you’re interested (Anyone)? I miss being the Mama Bear (No, I'm not heavy; not that there's anything wrong with that!)

  • I'm right there with you, MWLSN... where are the fun guys? You must be out there :) BTW, are there any pool places around here?
  • I hear that Brownstone Billiards (Flatbush and 7th) is undergoing renovation, and that it looks promising...
  • We had a happy hour at Brownstone Billiards once a long time ago and it was really fun. Only we played air hockey, not pool.

Can't help you with the guy friends thing, though. ;)

    It didn't need renovations.
  • I like to get my hipster wiggle on...and my taste in music is impeccable...as are my dancing skills. I'm a young buck though (23) but that's whatever. LMK what's up!

Wow. Is this a common problem? I didn't know there was a need for male buddies to hang out with. Interesting.

Maybe if it weren't so DAMN cold and Sputnik so far from transportation. (Like its lame cousin the L, the even worse G train does NOT count as transportation.)
    Have fun!
  • I too am being humbled by the cold! Hopefully I can rally!

Males at Burning Man aren't called 'guys', Karl. They're called 'geeks'.

And I mean that as a compliment!

The straight, single men 'round these parts are, for the most part, either younger or older than your preferred age range.

karl re-tapes his glasses, polishes a 20-sider, and abides.

you're going to have to ask flexi: she seems to be the only one who knows where to find them.
  • Air hockey trash-talking split off and moved here.
    Carry on, ladies...
  • On your behalf, I checked out http://www.allthegoodonesaretaken.com/ just in case, but there didn't seem to be much of value still available there.
  • I'm in your requested age range ProspectPlaceGirl (I'm 27)...what's up?
  • come to a DH happy hour. I have more male friends from those than I recall ever having in my life (then again, I went to a women's college, so er). they're all married and happy and fun to chill with in the absurdly platonic way only I can appreciate (I'm so self-centered).

but I am kinda concerned about the dude who keeps posting here about wiggling. are you ok, man? this wiggle obsession ... not sure how to address it.
  • Is there a plan for another DH happy hour in the works? Maybe for Groundhog or Presidents' Day?
  • I was thinking we should do one at Ripple soon. maybe thursday?
  • I'd be in for Thursday.
  • I'll try to be there around 7:30.

    PH/DH Happy Hour - 7 p.m. - Ripple - Feb. 1 - Thursday
