Filming at Soda

Anybody know what they are filming at Soda today?

Comments

  • hmm. there was a film crew & trucks on washington this AM. maybe some ratner funded "horray PH" thingy?
  • THere are dozens of film trucks and equipment a few blocks away up here in CH. A guy rang my bell today wanting to know if he could film Friday morning in front of the house I live in, gave him my landladies number for permission. I asked what for, he said it's an Adam Sandler movie, forgot what the name was. Maybe that's what's going on at Soda.
  • It's got to be either this one:
http://imdb.com/title/tt0762107/ (the premise of which pisses me off to no end, I must say), or this one:
    http://imdb.com/title/tt0490204/
  • Maybe they're shooting a documentary on poor service?
  • THe guy mentioned two names, one I barely recognized, because I don't watch network tv. If he had said Don Cheadle, I would have remembered it, since I think he's a great actor and recognize his name. Sorry, but I think it's the fake gay one. Adam Sandler is great, though, maybe it won't be so bad.

Wow, how offensive. Those stupid gay people, getting special treatment all the time.

Not only that, which is indeed my main kvetch, but the premise is totally flawed anyway. Firefighters already GET health insurance and all that stuff. If one of the characters were unemployed and needed health insurance or it might at least be plausible, if no less stupid and offensive. Ugh.

    Or one on "Condo-fueled gentrification."
  • BrookFetish wrote: Maybe they're shooting a documentary on poor service?
    OH, SNAP!
  • was this on vanderbilt @ 6 pm? because there were location vans a plenty there in the pouring rain
  • So, nobody really knows for sure what is being filmed?

Surely there is someone on this board with a connection to Soda...

OH my that is offensive! (the first one). The thought of adam sandler in another movie is nearly equally offensive though...

I've got an email in to some ppl. it's tough to keep up with the bar crowd when you don't drink anymore.:cry::cry::cry::cry:
  • So I bumped into John Turturro on the corner of Bergen and Carlton this morning, totally lost and confused, looking for directions to the film shoot "on St Johns between Washington and Classon near the firestation" and walking in the wrong direction. So I took him as far as the Q and tried to point him in the right direction. I don't like to bug celebrities in mufty, but I did casually ask if he was in the movie and he said no, he was meeting a friend.
  • Carnivore - go by location and tell them to go to Sepia after they're done to give us the scoop. plz?

Awwww since I cannot buy you a drink I will applaud you :)
  • Just confirmed with one of the employees of Soda that it was the Adam Sandler movie. Apparently they also used some employees as extras.

Cool, thanks. Did they say whether it was the one that's all post-9/11 or the stupid firefighters-getting-married one?
  • Does anyone know whether they're still filming today, and/or whether that means you can't go there? I'm supposed to be meeting a friend for a drink there this evening. Thanks!
  • Subject: It's Chuck and Larry

So the movie is I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry. I know this because the hand-lettered street signs say "C&L" and the doors of the trailers on Washington Ave are marked "Larry" and "Chuck" and "Chuck Double" and "Chuck Stunt." If you see bursts of dark smoke rising into the sky, it's just a Hollywood thing...

oh cripes, how irritating. and why are they filming a movie set in philly in PH?!?
  • Subject: The story of Chuck and Larry

"Widowed fireman Larry Ellensworth is best buddies with infamous womanizer Chuck Ford. But when a bureaucratic snafu makes it impossible for Larry's pension benefits to be transferred from his dead wife to his two children, a desperate Larry steps way way outside the law, and he and Chuck pretend to be a gay couple in order to unkink the paperwork. Accused by professional pissant CLINT FITZER of being a pair of straight fakers, Chuck and Larry turn to female attorney ALEX CROFT for assistance -- and when Chuck falls hard for Alex while pretending to be gay, he finds that being a fireman's wife is no life at all.."
  • oh jeez.... :?

Ah, hadn't heard that version of the plot before -- all I'd heard wa that they're two firefighters and they get married for domestic partner protections, which made NO sense. Not that this makes much more.

What was that godawful Cuba Gooding/Horatio Sanz movie about the two straight guys pretending to be gay on a gay cruise? Boat Trip, I think? Sounds like this is going to be just as horrible.

They were shooting some firefighter movie like last week in West Village also , didn't really care to find out more about it since I was late for work and they always shooting some movie in that area.

Maybe Hollywood will make Soda famous now like Coyote Ugly? You should all buy some Soda tshirts and stuff now, it will be worth like a month rent in a few years when you sell it on ebay.
