Phony phone call — Brooklynian

Phony phone call

So, I'm surfing the net and my phone rings. The caller ID indicates the call is from Las Vegas. Since I'm going to Vegas soon I figured it was a confirmation call. I pick it up, no answer, I wait five seconds figuring the hotel concierge, or whoever handles confirmations is distracted, the voice speak..."HI! I'm Brooklyn Borough President Marty Markowitz....!!!" Ole Marty pulled a fast one. I thought I was gonna get confirmed and comped and I end up listening to this recording of this buffoon telling me how great Mark Green is. Now, I have to vote for his opponnent out of spite. Good going guys. You made my day. I don't see these types of calls being any better than the telemarketing that the Feds put a partial ban on. I swear too holy Jesus politicians are worse than panhandlers when they ask for your vote and donations. I had to vent.

  • Yea, I got that cacll too. Hung up after "this is borough president...."
  • The call might've originated in Las Vegas because the rates for bulk outgoing recorded calls may be lower/lowest from there. Still, those calls are a royal PITA no matter where they come from.

    me too.
  • Any time there's a delay of more than 1 or 2 secs, I hang up. Surest sign that you're being routed to a call center.

I was away last week, and returned to a whopping 17 of these messages recorded on my home machine. I guess I like to know who is endorsing whom . . .
my favorite was Susan Sarandon talking about Hillary Clinton's unprogressive pro-war stances.

My least favorite call is the push polling going on last night.
You know the kind -- "this is blah polling service. this is not a sales call, you will not be asked for a donation. are you registered to vote?"
I didn't bother to ask who was paying for the call before I got off the line, but I wish I had. Who were they shilling for?
