new to neighborhood.
so there is a pretty darn good chance i will be moving to the neighborhood come october first. i've got a few friends in the area but am looking for a more comprehensive look into the neighborhood.
that information includes but is certainly not limited to: the market rate for studio apartments, interesting shopping areas, local lore, historical landmarks, crimes rates, restaurant recommendations, demographic information, places you enjoy, places you find sketchy, most reliable buses and where they go, and vice versa. and anything else interesting you might like to share about the neighborhood.

First off, welcome in advance!
You might want to spend some time poking through the older threads on the board. I did before moving to the area and found lots of useful info. Most of this stuff has been discussed lots of times and while I'm sure there's always new information and commentary to add, but it's still well worth the time to check out the older stuff. -
You can also come to the next happy hour!

Just one small thing to keep in mind; If you read all of the crime postings back to back you'll end up "LOCK YOU DOORS" (board inside joke").
It's a great neighborhood. -
well thank you folks for your reply. i will do some peaking around both on this forum and the neighborhood for sure.

Most of the things you listed can be found elsewhere, but just to make a mention of studio prices because I was recently in the market
Generally speaking it can depend on if you are willing to go past Washington Ave (Crown Heights) or south of Eastern Parkway (Lefferts Garden), but it seems to me (from craigslist researching) to stay between Flatbush and Washington it usually ranges from 850-1200 per month, but you might be able to go a little lower (I found something a few months ago notably lower) through some of the neighborhood brokers, but then of course there is a brokers fee
You can also search through older conversations to find information about neighborhood brokers; one name worth searching might be Marjorie Thompson who seems to have alot of studios, though certainly not everyone has had a positive experience with her...
Under either the New York or Brooklyn page there is also the New York Times murder map, maping out murders from previous years, if that might be an issue
