Bar Trivia

I have a feeling I'm supposed to know, but what is bar trivia?
-
Bar trivia is played at bars (duh). They ask trivia questions (double duh -like your name, but different

)
I kid
You play at bars in teams and they ask you random trivia questions and tally your scores. Questions can be ANYTHING....
One day my team answered correctly -
1) how many people do the Jehovah's Witnesses think will make it into heaven (I got this RIGHT - I'm a freak
)?
2) who was the female winner of the NYC marathon last race (my friend got this right on our team)?
3) label these countries in South America (a blank map of S. America). I got all 5 countries (Uruguay, Paraguay, Suriname, Peru and French Guyana right)
4) Label these 5 political figures - we got them all right as a team - Pol Pot, Kim Jung-Il, Chavez, Pinochet...and somebody else
One of my friend gets almost all of the music questions from the 80s right and we look at her and she says "What can I say? I didn't get out of the house much in high school"
we also got plenty of shit COMPLETELY wrong
So, stuff like that........... -
oh, ok. So it's not "bar" trivia, but trivia at a bar. Coolio.
If you can't find a bar doing trivia, Dave and Buster's in Times Square has a fun trivia game where you compete with others. It's very easy but you win tickets for right answers and can then redeem them for crappy toys.
Edit: Double duh. hahahahaa! -
Cattyshack on 4th Ave has it on Tuesday nights
-
Thanks, guest.
Any other places? -
Gowanus Yacht Club has it on some night...I think Tuesday. Commonwealth may have it. I'm actually planning on finding out if they still have scrabble on sundays, and will ask if they have trivia too.
Whil we're at it, does anyone know of any good scrabble nights offhand? -
Magnetic Field does it every other Wednesday, game show style.
-
Thanks! I think I meant Magnetic Fields rather than Last Exit ....which one is on Atlantic on the South side?
-
The one at Magnetic Fields rules! They even give you free beer while you play!
-
I am pretty sure the new bar Cherry Tree (I think that's the name) On 4th Ave has monday night trivia, I haven't been for trivia, but it's a cool spot with a decent selection (lots of bottles, though)
Its pretty close to atlantic, next to Mule. -

bump.
My friend just moved here from Seattle and he claims to be a trivia champion so I'd like to take him somewhere in the neighborhood where he can test his skills. Any more suggestions besides the ones already mentioned here? -
A buddy and I went to Black Sheep Pub on Wednesday (Bergen? or Dean? and 5th) for their quiz night. We had a blast. The questions were challenging and fun. I found it well organized too. I'm hitting the books before the next round.
-
How often is this held and what time does it start?
Thanks -
Flexi: I think I was told every second Wednesday (I'd call and check though, but that sounds right) The quiz started around 9pm or a little after.
-
Freddy's on Dean St. has amazing quiz nights and other events. Check it out before they're gone!

Dean and what, and where are they going? What day and time are their quiz nights? -
Cherry Tree on Monday nights. I'm not sure if it is good or not, but it just started up.
-
I believe Beast in Prospect Heights recently launched a trivia night. Not sure what night.
-
Black Sheep pub quiz is every second and forth wednesday of the month but its postponed this week just because of thanksgiving. Get there early though because all the seats are usually gone by 9pm.

Which, unfortunately, does not help those of us that are male since we are quite likely not to be admitted.
