Mistery metallic box in kitchen wall
Hello!
We just bought an apartment in PS. The kitchen has not been renovated in a while. Beneath the window, there is a metallic square little door protruding from the wall. Once opened, it reveals a small, box shaped metallic interior. What is it, we wonder? The building dates from the 1920's. Any clue will be appreciated.

It was probably a fuse box. Most old apartments had theirs in the kitchen or hallway. Sometimes inside a coat closet.

If it's below the window... it's probably a cold box for milk butter etc....refrigerators became popular in the early 40's (I think)
