    What's your number?
    I was #93 at 3pm. (at P.S.9)
  • I just got back home from voting at the school on St. Marks between Grand and Classon (off-topic: the lady in the blue dress who's in charge of the election volunteers there is one of my coworkers, and she's awesome -- didn't know she lived here in the neighborhood!). Right now it's not too bad; only one person was in the booth ahead of me. Saw SJE on my way out too. Brooklynian, represent!

That is so weird that you vote there. Im right across from PS 9, am only 3 blocks from the st marks school but I vote on Sterling and Classon. Oh yeah at 6:30 I was number #86
  • Does anyone know a URL for results?
  • NY-1's (television) coverage of the election returns has been excellent tonight.
  • Holy cow:
    Assembly District 57
    Hakeem Jeffries [Dem] 181 65.82%
    William R. Batson [Dem] 49 17.82%
    Freddie Hamilton [Dem] 45 16.36%

    Reporting: 7 of 110 precincts - 6.36 percent
So that's not many precincts yet, but that's already a BIG margin.

    You're KIDDING?! absurd.
  • That's a pretty low percent of returns in so far, though. It could swing big later.

Incidentally, there's more good coverage at the NY Times feature "The Empire Zone":
    http://empirezone.blogs.nytimes.com/
  • As I exited the B/Q station at 8:30, The people bodily obstructing the exit were heard saying, "There's still time! Vote against Atlantic Yards! Vote for Yassky!"
  • Okay, 20% of the precincts reporting now, and the margin's only changed a tiny bit:
    Assembly District 57
    Hakeem Jeffries [Dem] 883 62.18%
    William R. Batson [Dem] 342 24.08%
    Freddie Hamilton [Dem] 195 13.73%
    Reporting: 22 of 110 precincts - 20.00 percent
    Also:
    House District 11
    David S. Yassky [Dem] 3520 33.73%
    Yvette D. Clarke [Dem] 2577 24.70%
    Carl Andrews [Dem] 2211 21.19%
    Chris Owens [Dem] 2127 20.38%
    Reporting: 117 of 523 precincts - 22.37 percent
Wow, Yvette Clarke getting almost a quarter of the votes even after that whole, "Oops, I didn't REALLY graduate from college!" thing?

And it looks like Edolphus Towns has won again.
  • And it looks like Edolphus Towns has won again.
    Sweet. :) Ed is good.
  • As a completely infantile addition to this conversation, is anyone else watching NY1 right now? Mark Green's daughter is ridiculously hot. Sorry, I just had to add that.
  • Yvette Clarke just pulled ahead of Yassky with 77% of the votes in!

    House District 11
    Yvette D. Clarke [Dem] 10735 29.26%
    David S. Yassky [Dem] 10619 28.94%
    Carl Andrews [Dem] 8068 21.99%
    Chris Owens [Dem] 7272 19.82%
    Reporting: 403 of 523 precincts - 77.06 percent
  • The "oops! I didn't really graduate from college after all!" candidate?

    Oh, just lovely.
  • House District 11
    Yvette D. Clarke [Dem] 12819 30.26%
    David S. Yassky [Dem] 11778 27.80%
    Carl Andrews [Dem] 9409 22.21%
    Chris Owens [Dem] 8359 19.73%
    Reporting: 467 of 523 precincts - 89.29 percent
  • House District 11
    Yvette D. Clarke [Dem] 13801 30.56%
    David S. Yassky [Dem] 12228 27.08%
    Carl Andrews [Dem] 10103 22.37%
    Chris Owens [Dem] 9030 19.99%
    Reporting: 495 of 523 precincts - 94.65 percent
  • So it looks like the race for the Senate in September will be between Hillary Clinton and John Spencer.

Dude sure has aged since the Blues Explosion!

    Oh, just lovely.
Well, she'll be in good company in the US Congress. It's not exactly a place that's brimming with knowledge, expertise, or integrity. She'll fit right in.

Can't say I'm that disappointed... Clarke would like to have had my vote, whereas Yassky clearly states he wouldn't want it.
  • My friend worked with her when she was in 1199. He described her as "a lazy hack with powerful political connections in the union. Aside from sleeping at her desk and running the Youth Mentoring Summer program into the hole by $80,000 dollars in 1993, she was a fine administrator".
  • it's unending - jeffries was at the EP 2/3 this AM thanking people for his vote. methinks he was up late partying - his eyes were vaguely glazed and bloodshot.

I dunno -- he kind of looks like that on his posters too.
