how to get music off an ipod?

so one of my besties copied a bunch of music to my ipod, most of it from one particular artist, who happens to be her husband. the music was all pressed to LP and pretty much sold exclusively in Europe, generally in the East. the label doesn't exist anymore and the owner tragically (no, really) died last year. I want to get this stuff off of my ipod for an event, cause it's awesome, but I'm not quite certain how. anyone ever tried it and had it work? what did you use?

I know you're being sarcastic, but I'll pretend you're not.

Then she'd have to convert it back to mp3. I think she just wants to move the file from the iPod to her computer, which iTunes doesn't allow. I've actually done this before, but I forgot the name of the program I used. Check versiontracker.com and you'll definitely find many different programs (many freeware or shareware) that can accomplish this for you.

Generally it is not *intended* for you to copy music back from IPODS to the computer, this is unidirectional because of the digital rights movement.

However there are several tools that do that for you nontheless.

I personally use Copy-Pod well worth the 20 bucks imho.

I find it funny that all of the copy protection is in place to prevent people from making 'perfect' copies when recordings are complete shit these days, anyway.

DRM for me is the sole reason I still buy everything on CD. This way I can create my own MP3's from it and do whatever the hell I want with it.

I wouldnt buy anything from itunes for the dumb DRM limit of 5 devices and the inabilty to copy it around as I see fit.

Not being sarcastic. That's why I said 'when all else fails'. For a modest loss of quality, digital protection can always be thwarted by plugging a headphone jack into a microphone jack. Converting back to mp3 is optional. For example, if you sample in stereo at 16-bit PCM / 44.1K you could burn onto a regular CD. Or sample with the best quality available and cut it back onto vinyl
