Soccer? — Brooklynian

Soccer?

Anyone out there who plays in a game or needs players?
Looking for a not too competetive over 30s game in Brooklyn, prospect park preferred.

I also run a game on Saturdays and Sundays on Manhattans Pier 40 if anyone is interested we always need some more guys.

Anyone?

  • there's a group that plays in Prospect park on saturdays. You can find them on meetup.com. When it gets nicer, we have a crew that plays everyday in Ft. Greene park.

As for Pier 40, what time do you play? Do you still need players?
  • Are any of these games from organized leagues? Looking for a co-ed summer league in a park nearby Prospect Heights
  • @Guvna : we lost all our playing times at Pier40 for the Spring (High Schools and colleges get preference) But Ill PM you when we get the fields again in the Summer.
Ill also look up the meetup.com group. Thanks for that.

@Mixergirl : we are just a bunch of guys who wanted to get away from the organized leagues and have a regular kickabout, we do play co-ed, usually with 3-5 girls on the pitch.

Count me in if you can on the PM about informal knock-abouts in the park. I'd love to get a run in with the ball but I have no use for any ultra-competitive environment where someone might Zidane me. (If ya know what I mean.)
  • Subject: count me in, too

i'm looking for a relaxed but somewhat skilled game as well -- red
  • on a semi-related note:

when do the food stands open up at the Red Hook soccer fields again?
  • How leisurely and whatnot are these games here? I haven't so much as touched a ball in half a decade, so I'm pretty sure I'm not exactly an all star anymore. If it's just a bunch of guys who are in a situation like that kicking the ball around when they can make it, I'm down to swing by sometime. If it's a bit more organized, as in a team will be shafted if I have to go in for a weekend call and can't come, I should probably not make the commitment.

Good to know this stuff before I invest in a pair of shinguards again? :P
