  • wow i think i'm going to be the ONE person going against you here.
being stopped and frisked is never a nice experience..not meant to be.
But if you are 59 and white then the reason you were stopped is because they had reason to believe you were responsible for something. theyre not goign to tell you every exact detail on why. I have friends who are cops..they aren't the government controlled robots you try to make them out to be. All of you seem so interested in trying to prove your precious rights are being infringed on that you don't make sense sometimes. You worry about the poor people in the projects nearby.. do we need to remind you how the area was 15 years ago and more? If crime was as high as it was you'd be on here crying how the cops werent doing their jobs and not stopping people. I wont argue that they get out of control with the power trips...but to say they shouldnt stop you or anyone doesnt make sense.
  • Guest at 2:14,

Did you even read the details of my stop & frisk incident, including the linked article detailing the crime and perp description that was likely the purported reason for cops stopping me? If you can explain to me how I look anything like one of three 5' 5" black guys then I deserve to be in the prestidigitation industry. I'm convinced that, when they saw me walking through the projects at a brisk pace, they said, "Hey this guy probably just came here to make a drug buy, let's stop him and use this morning's robbery as an excuse". Whatever, the fact is that the CCRB, after interviewing me and all three officers involved, came to the conclusion that the lead cop had abused his authority on three counts.

And, yes, our rights are precious, as opposed to "precious-in-quotation-marks" as you seem to imply they are. It says, right there in the Constitution, that people in the US are entitled to the right of privacy. I'd say it's pretty clear that someone rifling through your pockets without due (or stated) cause is tantamount to throwing that right, which the founding fathers struggled so hard to formulate, straight in the dumpster. The fact that you seem to disagree with that analysis and appear to be perfectly happy to have anyone, including yourself, stopped and searched for no cause, suggests to me that you would find the atmosphere of freedom that exists in Russia, Burma, Honduras, or any one of a dozen other civil-rights-deprived nations to be much more conducive to your philosophy on life than the conditions that exist (or should exist) here in the US.
  • 3:14PM = COP
  • Those that can, do.

Those that can't go on to be cops.

The disdainful way that you say "your precious rights" is absolutely unAmerican.
  • Wait a second... exactly what right of yours was violated?

Maybe you did look suspicious, perception is a fickle thing.

The way I read this you were stopped, questioned, probably asked to show ID and then left to get into your car.. right? What are we talking like 3 - 4 min?

Shit, if you search my posts you can see that I was wrongly locked up for over 44 hours... I don't blame the cops, it's the system.

Anyway, I'm sure there was a robbery in the area and I bet you vaguely (or exactly) fit the description of the perp.. When you live in a city that offers you the protections of one of the worlds best police forces, fire departments, etc.. then you are subject to their rules.. I'm not saying this is 100% fair and just.... I'm saying if you don't like it, then leave.

The NYPD is above the law.. you can fight them, or join them, or keep your nose clean and every 5 years or somethign have a little run in with absolutely no consequence to the remainder of your life..
  • Drunken Revival:

If you had the sense to read my Jan 24th reply to a guest comment you would have seen the answers to most of your questions.

As to your comments "I'm saying if you don't like it, then leave" and "The NYPD is above the law"; I have no idea how anyone with even the vaguest concept of what America stands for can write such objectionable crap. I seem to remember similar sentiments permeating the crisp Bavarian air around 1930.
  • I did read your Jan 24th reply taking careful note of words like "probably" and "likely". I respect your opinion but it is biased.

Fact is you have no idea what the officer may or may not have had in his head when he stopped you. Maybe he just didn't like the color of your shoelaces, or perhaps you fit the exact description of an on the loose pedophile... I really couldn't say.

I can say that you are going a little overboard in victimizing yourself.

As for the CCRB's findings... well, I worked for as investigator for the CCRB for two years. I won't go so far as to say that they "hate cops" in that organization, however, they certainly come in with a bias against them. Furthermore, their job (that is their off the record, unstated job) is to police cops. If they see a an easy ding on an officer they take it -hence your findings.

If I was you I'd be happy they didn't crack you in the skull, ask questions later, throw a bag of dope in your console and chuckle about it over coffee and donuts.

If you believe, as you appear to, that that's standard operating procedure for the NYPD and yet still advocate not seeking sanction against the tendency to such behavior, then you're an even bigger fool than I had first taken you for.
  • ... the only thing I "appear to" be is a brunette with a fine, fine, ass and good fashion sense. The rest is just details.
  • Amazing footage of NYPD violating New Yorkers' rights and abusing their authority:

  • That first dude ran a red light. That's against the law. That's when the anarchy started. Just sayin'.

John wrote: Please stop it already with the complaining. Big deal you were stoped by the police, if the NYPD stops doing these type of searches then the city will become what it once was a city of Crime. If this is what you want then maybe you should move because i am not looking for that type of environment. Get over it and worry about things that can help improve what the Police are trying to do here , keep this Americas safest city. The problem is if you do not understand how to battle crime you should not questions there tactics.
People have rights and you damn well know that. Nothing personal but I hope it happens to your daughter or son someday. It will make you umderstand a bit more of what the experience is like.

5%-10 % of cops are bad apples. The should be taken off the off the force and you damn well know that as well.

    Warmest regards,
