how do you get a neighborhood namechange? — Brooklynian

how do you get a neighborhood namechange?

there has been a lot of talk on the bed stuy/ch lists of late on naming "micronabes" within bed stuy, as the area is so huge.
All we need is to follow the process Crown Heights just went through to establish its historic district. We extend the Stuy Hgts. district to include the previously proposed district, which I believe goes up to Madison and over to Patchen. Bedford Heights would be appropriate from Marcus Garvey over to Bedford and from Decatur to Quincy. All that's needed is someone to lead the effort. I'm sure many others would follow.
my question is...what individual or group made this happen in crown heights so that we can get this moving in our part of town?

thanks crown heights!

  • Contact the Crown Heights North Association. If you do a search on this board you can find contact information as many members of the association post here.
  • or just get a whole bunch of Realtors ;) to start selling in a area with a different name and it will pick up soon after that.
  • Yea but according to the realtors it's PH all the way to Nostrand.
  • in a few years i'm sure parts of crown heights would be ph :).

I think some of them actually think that the Van Wyck is "the new border" but we all know they're full of shit.
  • Just start saying it and see if it catches on
