Humans Against Music: Sing and win a ham in March!

We used to call it the "Sing and Win a Ham and other Mediocre Prizes Contest", but it was way too much to key in every month.

This porcine pleasure is packed in its own gelatin

Second Prizes: LightLifeâ„¢ organic tempeh and jumbo Smart Dogsâ„¢

  • Ulysses went to the underworld.

I'm only singing if you have "Tales of Bave Ulysses" by Cream.

Also, it celebrates the vernal equinox.
    You thought the leaden winter
    Would bring you down forever
But you road upon a steamer
To the violence of the sun...

    Rockout!
  • I was saving "Tales of Bave Ulysses" for the Kings Couty Renaissance Fair Karaoke (along with some of my favorite Rick Wakeman classics). That also means no to "Yes".

How about something moody in a nice Gordon Lightfoot?
  • Nevermind. I've decided I'll only sing if you have the Three Dog Night classic, "Never been to Spain".
  • wha! no salami 2nd prize?
  • quijibo, so how was that Latin-Tutonic treat? I can never remember if its filled with LDL or HDL?

pensodyssey, I'll check with the other Mason's, it does fit into our "International and Beyond" theme.
  • i heard that sarah ultragrrrl lewitinn is doing a book about karoke. still, she is gonna have to aim mighty high to even have a chance at toppling rob drew's "karaoke nights" at the summit of all karoake books. like orleans said, it's "still the one."
  • Interesting. http://ultragrrrl.blogspot.com/

Should I quit wrting my memoirs, "Karaoke Confidential" while I'm ahead? It's only three pages long at the moment.
  • the Salami was delish!
i starting eating it at the Umlauts -- as you suggested -- that's where all the flavor was concentrated

not sure how i can top "scenes from an italian restaurant" opus...
maybe a little Kim Wilde's "Kids in America"?

    Friday night and everyones moving
    I can fell the heat
    But its shooting
    Heading down
I search for the beat in this dirty town

Nah, we're protesting Kim Wild, she stole the thunder from Laura Branigan.

How does one top your Billy Joel singing salvo, "Scenes..."? "Baby Got Back" is taken by that girl that keeps falling into the mic. "Don't Stop Me Now" is so do-did-done-that. Maybe "Maniac"? How about a non-screaming "Little Darlin'"? It's open season for "Seasons in The Sun".

The empty orchestra is your musical oyster.
  • Gloria

i think we got your number
i think we got the alias... that you've been living under

    gloria. gloria
take a lover in the afternoon
    feel mumble mumble sliipping away
don't believe it's coming back soon...

"Oh please, tell me you have 'Always (Run to You)', by Bon Jovi! If you dont I could just die!"

Oh my Gewd, Josseleen, please don't die! We do have that song by motley mullet-mavens, Bon Jovi. Sharpen up that hair brush and get that big coife in gear, our South Jersey trilogy of terror is almost complete.

You may know this opera ditty from numerous credit card commercials or from hte movie "Excaliber". Nobody has sung "50213 Dream Weaver". It sits there waiting like a bruised apple at Keyfood. Give it a shot.
  • OH MY GOD i am SO excited now! Love the new song list! Screw LOST! -- I'm singing Karaoke!
  • Subject: LOST?

LOST is on Wednesday? Damn, that explains everything...

Filling in for Bill C. this Wednseday is one of our favorite guest hosts, Heather "H-Bomb" McCabe. Thanks lady H, you've made my lo-fi dreams come true. There are no teleprompters nor are there bouncing balls at this singing soire. It's a spectator-friendly blood sports, like Thai kick boxing, but much much more charming. We have printed lyrics and over 300 GET OUT! voiceless tracks.
  • wha? no Bill C m.c.?
    uh-oh this might be a deal-breaker....

    Bring Back Bill!!!!!
    Bring Back Bill!!!!!
    Bring Back Bill!!!!!
  • Bill C. is on an important secret mission. All I know is that a large bat shaped glow lit the sky when Commissioner Gordon called. Bill C. put on a black mask with pointy ears then got into a speeding black car with a bat logo on the hood. What do you think it means? I think he's a fireman.
  • That Yarn Guy wrote: What do you think it means? I think he's a fireman.

Was the black car double-parked when he got into it? If so, you are probably correct, he's a fireman.
  • Subject: Sayonara

As we bid a tearful sayonara to March and our rockin' host , H-bomb, let's watch this topic sink into obscurity. Zuibun ookii domo arigato to all you gaijin otomachi. One thing we learned last night was that people love Post-Its! Re-appropriated office supplies rock! Here's a quick shout out to our samurais of song.

To the Donald, happy birthday! 39 is the new 40, as 49 is... I can't say enough about black hair dye and a good moisturizer. If it works for the Japanese it will work for you! And to Poly Urethane for the oishi solid grey carrot cake. Kanpai to omedetou gozaimasu!

Ayatolla of Rock N' Rolla, for leading the Donald's birthday tune "O Fortuna", and your sweet sweet air guitar on "Sweet Child O' Mine". Mina wa yasashi, enjoy the stapler!

Penodyssey for conquering that Long Island odyssey, "Scenes from an Italian Restaurant". Quijibo will have to sing to reclaim his title. Hontou ne?

To the mystery rocksters Ed from NJ and the two dudes who sang "Piano Man", keep your feet on the stars and keep reaching for the ground! hmmm, sonodomo wa omoshiroi.

Black Cowboy for crooning "Let's Stay Together" so sweetly, wear that bowling trophy proudly! Ara ara! Itai! Don't drop it!

Singing Cave Man, you're not paranoid "Everyboy's Talkin'" about that canned ham you won! Hamagu wa oishii! Bakada! Cheers and see you all next month.
  • thanks for the recap. sounds epic. wished i coulda been there but was relaxing at the promises resort. also, got some sort of horrific flu following jug band show @ hank's on st. patrick's day. obviously, considering all the things that might be caught at hank's i got off easy. we did a whole medley of the light comic opera of messrs gilbert and (alone again, naturally) O'Sullivan.

If by Promises Resort you mean the League of Justice, and if by "horrific flu" you mean the Green Goblin is back, I assume that the Jug Addicts are in fact the Super Friends. But maybe that's just me. A good time was had, and we had a lot of horrified, but new face. I'll post our new list of 374 GET OUT! voiceless tracks on the site. Cheers Bill C., HAM awaits your return next month.
