I am relatively new to Pilates and since the classes (on the machines) are so expensive, I want to be sure to go to a good studio/teacher. Would anyone recommend/not recommend Body Tonic? Any recommended studios in the city - midtown east or downtown? Thanks for any suggestions.

  • Bodytonic is awesome. great teachers. I highly recommend them. I do privates on occasion, but yes, they are expensive.

I esp. like Caitlin, Emily, O-Sel and, of couse, Mama Pilates herself, jennifer de luca.
  • I second the vote for Body Tonic.

The teachers are great. Jennifer, Emily, Caitlin, Monica and O- Sel are all highly recommended.
  • fitness collective has a couple of good pilates teachers: Jessica and stephanie
  • any opinions on Pilates Garage?
  • Has anyone tried the Ellie Herman Studio on Union St. off 7th Ave?
  • What does everyone suggest for someone who's never done pilates before?

A private session, or a beginner class?
  • Oh, and are there good pilates instructors at the Y? I'm thinking of signing up there again.
