Finding an apartment — Brooklynian

Finding an apartment

I just moved to Brooklyn as a horticulture intern at the Botanic Gardens. I am hoping to find an apartment in a nice neighborhood near the gardens. So far, I am not having any luck. Any help you can offer to me on how to get a place?

  • Are you looking for your own place, or as a roommate situation?
  • also budget is key
  • keep sieving through Craigslist, and put your own notice up

check the listings on this site -- all the APTS stuff goes in one place here

Put a card up at the Park Slope Food Coop (on Union Street, 6-7 Aves)
There is a hallway leading up to the office with a big notice board with areas for housing, work, neighborhood services. The Coop is a membership organization, but non-members are permitted to put stuff up, and cards are provided. Ask the person at the entrance desk to point it out to you, it's through a door across from the main entrance.

Good luck! BBG should be an awesome place to intern.
  • I hope to have a roomate
  • Another good way is to walk around and look for rental signs on buildings. I wouldn't recommend going past Empire Blvd, stick closer to Atlantic Ave. I posted about 2 signs for apartments I saw in PH but they're on Dean Street, which might be a little far for you. I take my dogs for long walks on my days off and I usually have my camera with me. If I head over that way I'll take pictures of any signs I see and post them.
