Are you perhaps talking about Le Toukouleur on Bedford and Quincy? I haven't been yet, but I'm hoping to drop by soon.

You've got to visit this place soon. I went this past weekend and the food was delicious!

Le Toukouleur as an absolutely FABULOUS restaurant. The food is great, the decor is tasteful and elegant and the operators/owners are so very nice and welcoming. It's definitely a 'gotta eat there' kinda place.

Sorry, you are right though, there is also a Folukie restaurant (1168 Bedford Avenue) . There web-site address is www.folukie.com. I haven't eaten there yet, so I can't say what, IMO, the food is like.

I stopped by Folukie a few months ago just as they were opening. Talked briefly with the owners who seemed like very sweet people. Menu looks good, too, but I haven't tasted the food yet.

My wife and I vote for le toukouleur too. We had a wonderful meal and a good time talking to the musician

What?!?! There is a Folukie too? Well thanks Angie Malice for mentioning it, and thank you David for correcting me and for including their website. I guess I'll be trying them soon.

You folks have to get out more; Folukie, named after the owner is three blocks from Le Toukouleur and has great Halal food that I have tried 4 or 5 times. They have poetry on Wed. or Thurs.

As you enter into Folukie you feel as if your in a mini African Museum lined by chocolate art sculptures done by Ebow Dadzie (United States Pastry Chef of the Year 2007). The stage is set right before you with a live 2 piece band playing music that is calming to the spirit. The ambiance is so quaint, romantic and filled with a Trinidadian and Senegales vibe. The food is eclectic and abundant with the taste and spices of Trinidad and Senegalese. The service was GREAT and left you to feel as if you were on vacation enjoying your meal. I HIGHLY recommend Folukie to all who want to experience Trinidadian and Senegalese cuisine with a touch of Soul at it's BEST! -
