Shoe Shopping Suggestions
I am jonesing for a pair of red leather sandals with 3-4" heels. Open toe or peep toe.
Any suggestions on where to find such lovely shoes in the Slope?
Although I might just suck it up and order these:

Get on the train or bus and take a ride to century 21 on 86th street.
-
ooh those are hot shoes! Frankly, I think the shoe stores in the slope sell more practical shoes than lovely or sexy shoes. I usually shop in soho. I think I saw a similar pair to the ones you put up in DSW in Union Sq
-
I didn't have any luck around the Slope today. There are some places that sell hot shoes - Shoe Mine, Goldie + Mac, but no luck.
I may check out Century or DSW next week, but I don't have a lot of patience for crowded stores.....
Zappos.com is my friend :-) -

Century is the best for shoes - although I go to the one in Manhattan -
If you like Zappos try endless.com they have some pretty hot shoes -
Yes, I'd go tot the one in Manhattan fo' sure.
Those shoes are on both Endless and Zappos......hmmmm......what to do?
btw, I can't see your avatar, Stacey...just a red X -
i gotta say, i love DSW. if you can avoid it on the weekend, you should be good.
-
Well, I broke down. They'll arrive on Tuesday.
If you see a chick wearing those shoes, it might be me :-) -
Oooh mama, those are some nice shoes! I have such a shoe fetish (runs in the family) but my days of shoes like that are long gone. Broke my left foot and had surgery on my right (I took ballet for 8 years).

Wear them for me Flexichick! -
I will wear them for you! I have no business wearing shoes like that either - broke my ankle in 3 places and spent....wait for it....EIGHTEEN months on crutches and in PT.
-
Geez flexi..Glad you bought those shoes but you best be wearing them only on special occasions. Watch out.. You don't want to to hurt those feet.
My days of those high heels are so over.
I spend far too much on shoes but they must be comfortable and by definition that means the end of those heels. I need height so I do weat platforms and wedged heels but my connection to the earth is so tenuous I can't take a chance of falling off on those thinner high heels any more. -
You guys are scaring me!
I'm going to keep them on a trial basis. Let's see if I can walk in 'em.
And yes, they'd be for special occasions only -
Hey, if you can wear them then wear them. Every person is different and those are some sweet shoes. Show them off!

I am so with this idea!!
I am 57.. but still a hottie for my age..Lol!
But when I was 35I wore sneakers to work and carried in a bag my "dress shoes".. I got in the habit of leaving the heels in the office untill a point where I had 25 pairs of shoes in the office. I was in a business that concerned visual artists.. I just put the shoes on an open shelf in the office and depending on my outfit chose a pair for that day and then at end of day threw those up there and wore sneakers home.
A quite famous photographer visited one day, saw the shelf and took out the camera.. many amazing and exhibited shots came out of that photo shoot.
Don't under-estimate the artistic value of shoes!!! -
I want to see those photos!
I used to have a ton of shoes under my desk at work. One day my friend resigned and I ended up switching into her new office. I said "uh huh, you resigned, blah blah blah...get out of the office....and leave those shoes :-)
" -
I have a stash of lulu guinness heels under my desk. I can't walk far in them, but on carpeted floors in my work place? no problem.
-
http://www.shoebuy.com/ very good site and got alot of coupons floating around the net

Oh, there's a DSW at the Atlantic Center. I like to go drool over the shoes I can't wear.
Flexi, you must come into the wine store to show off those shoes, but then you should stop by anyway! -
I have thought about coming in, but it is usually at the wrong day/time. one day, I'll make it in.....I am a big wino (just got home from a wine and cheese date in the E. Village).
-
They're here and they're gaw-jus!
They also have a protective plastic seal over the bottom, so I can practice in the house a bit before deciding on if they're keepers -
Well that was fast delivery on your shoes!
Practice and see if they will bring you joy before you decide to keep them. -

Subject: shoe repair?
Speaking of shoes, does anyone know of any good repair shops in the neighborhood that can fix my winter-damaged heels? There was a super-cluttered place on Fifth Avenue called Joe's that seems to be closed indefinitely. -
Yes, there are some threads on this if you do a search.
It may not be close to you, but I go to Roman's on Windsor St. just off of PPW (towards 10th Ave. and near the subway stop). He is closed on Saturdays, but open Sunday. Does a good job at a fair price - but don't ever lose your receipt because he puts all of the shoes in identical plastic bags and doesn't seem to have a good system for keeping them organized if you lose your tag.
Howdy, Stranger!
