If not Park SLope, then what? — Brooklynian

If not Park SLope, then what?

A slightly strange Manhattan pal of mine came over to my apartment recently. Its St Johns and Fifth.

The friend said, "this is an interesting area, what neighborhood is this?"
I said, "Park Slope"
She said, "No, its not. What neighborhood is it really?
I said, "Park Slope"
She said, "no, my boss lives in Park Slope. That's over on 8th Avenue and 7th Street."

Hmmm. Everybody apart from my strange friend seems to call this area Park Slope or North Slope. ..... :?:

  • That is Park Slope. It is the North Slope as opposed to the South Slope. Classically, Park Slope is bounded bythe park, 4th Avenue, 15th St, and Flatbush, though this is by no means set in stone

Tell your friend that each corner does not get to be its own neighborhood.
