Bus to the L/A/C/ANYTHING train... — Brooklynian

Bus to the L/A/C/ANYTHING train...

Sometimes I'm just damn sick of the G. I live on top of the bedford/nostrand G stop and its really, really far to walk to anything else, especially when I'm already late to work.
I suck at buses. I have no concept of above-ground geography. Are there any decent buses that run from Bedstuy to ANY train going into the city? Specifically the L, A/C? I usually just wait at the top of the platform for the G to see which direction comes first (its equal stops to the AC and the L) but one morning I waited 25 minutes for a train coming either direction during rush hour...buses seem to be more consistent
Anyone?

  • looks like if you take the B44 southbound along Nostrand Avenue you should hook up with the A/C Nostrand Avenue stop at Fulton Street.
  • Shish is correct. The bus stops right on the corner of Nostrand and Lafayette right at the train station. You can take it down to Fulton and catch the A/C.
  • i love this board. Im going to have to try that this week. I love the G train (well, because I sleep on top of it) but I'll be damned if it isnt slow...
how long do you suppose the bus ride is?
  • Carmen, I've actually switched TO the G because I've found the buses to Downtown Brooklyn to be even slower; plus, the B54 has so many people fare jumping by sneaking in the back that you can never get on anyway.
  • I find the G during rush hour to be great. Off-hours it goes slowly, especially on the weekends.

There are a lot of buses I can take to downtown Brooklyn but they're very slow during rush hour. (B54 on Myrtle, B38 on Dekalb, B61 on Park Ave)
  • the B48 goes up classon and down franklin and can take you to williamsburg (and the lorimer L) or the JMZ and Broadway and Lorimer.
  • I found the G much faster than taking the bus to the A/C Nostrand stop. I recommend timing yourself so you know when the G train comes (it is usually regular in the AM) and try to go for it. I was successful in never waiting more than a few minutes for it this way.
