Pit/Boxer/beagle in search of couch, tummy rubs, and love! — Brooklynian

Pit/Boxer/beagle in search of couch, tummy rubs, and love!

Anna was pulled from the NYCACC in the nick of time, and now she is ready for her permanent home.

She is a one year old pit/boxer/beagle mix. She is very sweet and playful. She does pull on the leash, but that can be corrected pretty quickly. She would be great with someone who likes to run. She is not great with other dogs, so she should probably be the only pet. She is up-to-date on shots. She is being fostered at a kennel and really wants a couch she can call her own. If you can't adopt her, please consider fostering! She is spayed, utd on shots, and microchipped.

Please call me at 718-852-1811 or e-mail at [email protected]. Thank you!!

  • We need pictures!!!
  • Subject: Here is her Craig's List posting

And here she is on www.fidobrooklyn.com (scroll down to see her cute photo):

Otherwise, I am not sure how to post her. Any help?

Also, please note, she has been in a kennel in Far Rockaway for a month, and only one person has checked her out (probably because of the distance). I would love to get her in a foster home if at all possible, so we get her some exposure.

    Thanks!image
mod note: I copied the address of the photo from your craigslist link. Use the IMG button and the URL ending with .jpg then IMG button again to do this yourself. Further explanation on Board Admin, under How To Post A Picture
  • If you find someone to foster her in the area (North Slope or Prospect Heights) we will be happy to provide afternoon dog walking services for free until she finds a permanent home.

  • Subject: Foster home?

Thanks for the offer. That is incredibly nice of you.

If anyone knows of a foster home, please let me know.

A friend and I are sponsoring her and finally checked out the conditions in which she is living. Let's just say, it's not great out there, and it's really far (Far Rockaway) and I don't have a car. Also, the rescue coordinating this has not brought her to any adoption events, so she hasn't gotten any exposure.

So if anyone can foster this sweet girl, let me know asap!!

    Thank a ton!
  • Heya Brooklyndogs, any word on this pup? Just checking in on some of the older threads here.
  • Subject: Anna is still looking for a home

She is doing great, though. I am fostering her at my house. She started out rather hostile to my dogs, but now they play, run around, and nap together on the couch. We still need to work on leash-walking. She gets very anxious on long walks, but she is fine if she is familiar with the place (probably from being a junk yard dog and then a stray, I presume). She has learned how to sit, go down, and roll over.

If anyone is looking for a dog that enjoys snuggling on the couch and running in the park, please let me know (it's a bit hard for me, as I am allergic to her -- that short pit bull fur gets me).
  • I checked in with Brooklyndogs to see if there were any updates on Anna, since it's been a while since we heard anything:
I still have Anna Banana. She is doing great. She is getting along very well with her foster siblings and learning how to do all sorts of thigs: sitting, rolling over, etc.

She still has trouble with leash walking, but we are working on it.

Unfortunately, I haven't gotten any good bites for her. All of the people that were initially interested had little kids (and she is too exuberant for anyone under six) or didn't follow through. THe two people that met her said she was too much dog for them.

But she is safe and happy with me, at least. I am willing to wait until the right home comes along.

    Thanks for checking in.
Just wanted to bump this post so y'all know Anna's still available!
  • Okay, I PM'd Brooklyndogs two days ago to check in again and haven't heard anything back, and it's been three weeks since the last update. I guess I'll take the sticky off. :(
  • Anna is still looking for a home! She is doing great with her foster siblings and will start working with a trainer next week, so whoever adopts her will get a very well-behaved pup!
  • Okay, I'll re-sticky it, then! :)

Just a reminder to everyone that we've added a new rule that folks who post about pets who are lost or need a home need to post updates every so often. I've been spending WAY too much time PMing people for updates on posts where there haven't been any updates in a long time in order to try to keep this board from getting too bogged down with outdated sticky posts. Any stickied thread that hasn't had an update in two weeks will be un-stickied. For more info, please read the announcement about using this board at the top of the page.

And someone adopt Anna, dangit! She's SO cute!
  • Subject: Update on the Banana

Anna Banana is still with me, though we (the Banana, my two dogs, and I) all moved to a new place.

She is working with a trainer to help with her leash issues. Also, she is spending time getting used to the dogs that live upstairs, so that she gets along with dogs other than the ones in her pack.

A few people have called about her, but none have been the right home.
She is safe and happy with me and her foster siblings until the right home can be found.
  • Subject: The Banana has a home . . .

with me!! After so many months and a fair amount of interest (but never the right bite), Anna Banana has graciously consented to stay with me (her foster mom) forever.

She is enjoying herself immensely, with her foster brother and sister and upstairs neighbor dogs. She still is not great on the leash but we are working on it every day.

Her new favorite toy, by the way, is a lemon she stole out of the fruit bowl. She carries it around and sleeps with it at night. It will have to be replaced soon, but there are lots more where it came from.
  • Yay, Anna Banana! And yay to you BD for taking her in and giving her such a good home.

  • Thanks! We are all very happy here, with lots and lots of playing. Anna B. is a fantastic dog.
