a new business on washington??? — Brooklynian

a new business on washington???

a storefront that seemed riddled with dying plants and dirty panes of glass just south of Natural Heights on Washington b/w St Marks & Prospect Place seems to be turning into something...the door was open and things were happening.

Any clues???

  • I think that you're talking about the space of a set designer there... lots o' plants, etc.
  • Yes that's the space, but is the business going to be for a set designer?

I was hoping for a coffee shop.
  • No. A set designer lives in that space. She's been there for years.
  • i love that window. i find it very beautiful. glad it's staying.

There are two potential coffee shops on that block, one on each side of the street. One's opening has been eminent for years, the other is less certain.

On Washington Avenue between Prospect and St. Marks Ave. Beautiful renovated space in Heart of Prospect Heights. Partially ready for coffee shop or cafe operation. Near numerous trendy new condominium developments, busy shopping, Museum, Botanic Garden and Prospect Park. This space is ready to be moved in with only minimal changes.

  • Yup, that's the less certain one that I'd mentioned.
  • Price seems a little high, wouldn't you say? It would be great to get someone to finish this job.

That plus PK's getting rented could really get things moving in the right direction. Not sure what the asking rent is for the PK's space but hopefully it's reasonable so that it doesn't stay empty too long.
  • It's a little high, but you wouldn't have the outlay of buying kitchen equipment. For someone that has the desire to open up a coffee shop, but not the funds to renovate and buy equipment, it would be a great, almost turnkey, opportunity.
  • $5000 a month on Washington Ave? You'd HAVE to sell crack to make that rent.
  • F*ck coffee I want bagels.
