Has anyone used this broker? They are all over craigslist but I can't find any other 3rd party info on them. Does anyone have experience using them as a broker?
thanks!

  • Subject: sketchy but alright.

I used these guys. They showed me my current apartment on park place between vanderbilt and carlton. They showed me the place when it was completely gutted and awaiting renovations, like two months before I would move in. I paid them the deposit that day, and after a little bit of sketchiness got my apartment.
Sketchy because my broker had to leave to go to pakistan about a week after I gave them the deposit. His brother then took over my account (while driving his car) and went through all the rest of the stuff with the landlord.
Had to pay the full fee, whatever it was, something outrageous. but I've got a brand new apartment on a great block right next to the beloved q train.
they work, but don't be surprised if you get sketched out during the process.
  • Thanks! They have one unresolved complaint at the BBB, so I think this plus your story may mean they are not worth the headache, especially for a high fee!
  • I would say avoid them. They charge ridiculously high fees and lie about exclusives.

I looked an apartment they listed, and was taken around by the sleaziest broker ever.

I would never give some character like that a 15% broker fee. Not on your life.

Go with a more established brokerage firm that has real relationships with property owners. I recommend Berman Realty. They NEVER charge a brokers fee more than 12%, and never for properties they own (and they own many).

including the term Paki in a derogatory way was completely unnecessary. I'm not trying to start a p.c. war, I'm just sayin.
  • I used them. Their fees are outrageous 15% however I checked out their web site and it says 10%. What's the deal with that? I talked them down a little bit. They asked for a $500 cash initial deposit (I think that's standard in PS) and wanted the rest in cash too but I refused to do that. They took a cashiers check. The woman who showed me the apartment was a bit of an airhead. I'm not sure if I would deliberately go out of my way to do business with them because they are a little sloppy, but I love the apartment.

I would say that if you like the apartment, go ahead.

FWIW, I really resent the use of the term "Paki." It's racist and it's besides the point.
