Last night 9/13, on Franklin and Sterling

Last night as I was enjoying a beer with a neighbor we heard "POP" then a pause, and then 5 more shots. THEY WERE RIGHT THERE, and the everyone from the four corners of Franklin and Sterling came out to see what was going on.

Man was down. I think he was a chubby guy with braids, around 20 years old. My friend went near him, and said he'd been shot in the face. He wasn't dead, but it didn't look good. He was one of the guys who stands on the corner, like on Park and Franklin. Police response seemed sluggish at first...

Does anyone know if this young man made it through the night? I will find out on the street later, but if it's raining like this, people won't be out.

Oy vey.

I don't know how I feel about all of this. I guess my ignorance made me feel safer, but falsely so. I live in Astoria right now and I somehow imagine few muggings and gunfire but then again if Astoria had a message board where I could keep tabs on the neighborhood, would I be reading the same stuff?

Subject: GUN PULLED AND FIRED ON ME ON THURSDAY

I know i am bit late posting this, but late night on Thursday night ( night of the heavy rain) around 1:30 in the morning i was walking from Prospect Place down to Vanderbuilt. Well i was approached (40 yards away) by a young man wearing a red hat, red shirt... he mumbled something i couldnt hear that well, and out of the blue he pulls a gun out and starts shooting i would say about 3 shots with a small calibre gun...i basicly ran to soda, and spead the word.. so i figured i would do the same here..

a bit of a noob... been in PH since MARCH...
