Subject: what happened to Uncle Liao's?

does anyone know what happened to Uncle Liao's? I tried to call them a couple of weeks ago and the guy that answered the phone said they were closed because of the gas problem. Since then, there has been no answer. My fiance and I walked past there last weekend and the gate was down. There was nothing posted, no clue as to why it's closed. Anyone have any info?

  • thanks for the info. i was hoping the reason it closed was a little less gross, but one can only be in denial for so long. and thanks for the link. that site will come in handy.
  • Ech!! A friend of mine in the neighborhood has a relationship with the owner. On a Friday night about two months before they closed this person set up a "special" dinner and 12 of us had a banquet in this place. The food was adequate.. not wonderful but the dishes served were not on the menu for the most part..... they were prepared for this group. Sat morning I woke up early with an upset stomach. Read that list of violations and we can see why. I didn't think about it much at that time. I have a sensitive stomach and attrituted the upset to my digestive sensitivity. I am re-thinking it now!!

geez I hope this place does not open agaain. If it does I will be tempted to write this incident up with elaborate description on a placard and parade it in front of this place!!!
  • Wow! I was wondering too, loved their sesame chicken, but I am kinda grossed out!!
  • Fafner

I checked out that site. Just put in 11215 and geez every restaurant and I have eaten in in Ps and some I might have thought of eating in came up..

    Violations abound..

My advice, dear friends... don't do what I just did or you will be eating at home every night rather than taking your chances by eating in ANY restaurant in PS.

ignorance is bliss, veets. ignorance is bliss.
  • veets, i did the same thing and i feel so barfy right now it's overwhelming
  • yah, the DOH reports are scary. Anything over 28 points is bad news and requires immediate compliance. 34 points isn't as bad as the 94 points the top 11215 winner got.

  • O.K.... Now I get the idea Coco Roco has been closed for about 10 days..the sign says the place is being Renovated. Perhaps in Spansih Renovate and Fumigate are nearly the same word!

That's it.. I am gonna put ina Fresh Direct order and never eat out again!
    Bleh!!
  • Oh god... I had brunch at Belleville yesterday. 53 points, issued on 3/23/07, including:

"Hand washing facility not provided in or near food preparation area and toilet room. Soap and an acceptable hand-drying device not provided."

SOAP not provided?? Come on! Ugh...

(Incidentally, my meal was delicious... I don't even want to think about the secret ingredient.)
  • I'm not going to look at the list. I'm just going to ask..are there any restaurants in the area that are notably NOT on the list?
  • Belleville too! I just had brunch there on Saturday, yuck!
  • Yep, worked at both Coco Roco and Belleville. Belleville was kinda gross downstairs, but Coco Roco takes the cake. The management also 'isn't nice' to its female employees. Gah! Super weak!

Meanwhile, I've switched to Red Hot for my chinese food needs, its a lot better anyhow.

I'm just glad my career in the service industry appears to be over 8)
  • Subject: Rachels??

Ugh, I love eating at Rachels! They got 33 points.
  • Yeah, I'm bummed about Rachels. Saw that, too. Order from them a lot. Fortunately, two of my fave restaurants Little D and Al Di La scored really well, but then can't say I was to worried about those place.
